If you’ve ever touched off a 10.3" inside a building with and without a suppressor (even a mini) you would definitely appreciate the muzzle blast reduction even if you’re wearing ear-pro.
My “house gun” is a 10" LMT w/AAC Ranger 2 installed.
Even though it’s not 100% hearing safe without ear-pro, I’d much rather have it suppressed than not.
Jason,
I pulled up the Winter Catalog and looked at the “length/length added” numbers of the M4-2000 Vs the Mini4, and the numbers just aren’t computing for me.
According to the Winter Catalog:
If the length of the M4-2000 is 6.625" and the length of the Mini4 is 5.25", then the difference is 1.375"
The catalog also states that the length added on the M4-2000 is 5.10" and the length added of the Mini4 is 2.80", giving a difference of 2.3"
So which one is it? Does the Mini4 lock on to the FH/MB about 1" deeper than the M4-2000, or are they the same mount/mount depth?
What I really want to know is how much will the Mini4 add to the tip of your 51T Muzzle Break on a 10.5" barrel compared to the M4-2000?? The “length added” number is really the most important to me since I will have the muzzle break anyway.
If it really is just an “extra inch”, then I might just go with the M4-2000…
Also, how much length does your 51T Muzzle Break add to the barrel length?
Thanks Jason!
Looking forward to purchasing either one of these great products.
Motherfuckin’ BINGO. I’m glad to see someone other than our staff/mods seem to “get it”. :dance3:
This is exactly what I was going for as well. Which is why I am so interested in the Mini4 so that I could keep OAL down as well…
Excellent point that a lot of others don’t yet understand. “Not nearly as loud” is not quite as good as “really quiet”, but that’s far better than “full blast”.
AND, it’s an even bigger change in the experience when in a team environment where someone may need to shoot with their muzzle a foot or two to the side of your face.
I’m sure your beard will do a good job of protecting you if anyone needs to shoot near your face. ![]()
Ironman,
Give me a sec and i will get a pic for you.
The length added measurements are simply what i am given from the engineers, and at various times in the past they have been calculated as “past the muzzle”, or “beyond a standard A2”… most recently they have been measured as 'beyond the blackout mount".
I’ll get a pic and some measurements for you.
Glad you pointed this out, will work to make it all comparable across models.
OK, here you go (with the 762-SDN-6 thrown in as a reference).
The typical BLACKOUT flash hider mount is 2.5" long. for the sake of simplicity, let’s call typical AR threads .5" long. for an addition of 2" from the muzzle.
OK, from left to right:
The 762-SDN-6 is 7.66" long, 19.85 oz, and adds 5.16" beyond the BLACKOUT hider, or 7.16" past the bare muzzle.
The M4-2000 is 6.625" long, 17.1 oz, and adds 4.125" beyond the BLACKOUT hider, or 6.125" past the bare muzzle.
The MINI4 is 5.25" long, 13.5 oz, and adds 2.75" beyond the BLACKOUT hider, or 4.75" past the bare muzzle.

Jason,
Great comparison. Now throw in the SPR! J/k.
Although, I wonder how a Mini with a reflex style mount would look and perform. In my head I see something that is about 7.25 inches long, extends past the muzzle a little over 3 inches and weighs about 14-15 oz. Performance should be a couple of dB better than the Mini. That would be pretty slick.
But I love the new Mini4. Fingers crossed that the WA laws change here in the near future.
It would look great, and it would perform like crap. ![]()
reflex portions can help a little, but they are no replacement for length in front of the muzzle. Adding length with baffles in front of the muzzle will improve suppression drastically more than increasing diameter or adding reflex volume. There is currently no replacement for adding baffles in front to strip off the gas, and adding length to give those baffles as much time to work as possible.
The MINI4 hits a real sweetspot in terms of size and performance.
And that’s why you go to SHOT show parties in Vegas with flame spitting strippers and I read about it on the internet.
Thanks for the explanation.
I of course over-simplify, but in general, there is no substitute for length past the muzzle.
Now, combine reflex length, a bunch of baffles in front of the muzzle AND a bigger diameter and you’ll end up with a 5 pound can that will sound pretty damn good. ![]()
Thank you Jason for that info! Very useful.
Ironman, see my post above, i fixed the numbers, the MINI4 is indeed 2.75 (~2.8)" past the tip of the BLACKOUT flash hider.
I also added numbers for distance past a bare muzzle in case that’s better for comparison…
Awesome! So the Mini4 will bring a 10.5" out to 15.25"…not too bad
Thanks for the update
What happened on the first measurement you took?
Come on! Give me some credit, I am the OP! See post #36! ![]()
I did not subtract the .5" that the barrel threads into the mount from the overall length.
Rookie!
J/K!
Alright, so I read fast and post faster. I just happend to see JodyH’s response, and had to comment on it.
If I had been married to the Ops, Inc system I would have already purchased the M4-S a long time ago.
Since I pre-purchased the 762-SDN-6, I am now married completely to AAC for suppressors. The Mini4 will most likely be a purchase for later this year.
