Part of me would like to believe the reason why the importance of physical fitness is not brought up that much is because it goes hand and hand with being able to perform the techniques discussed (if you cannot crouch behind cover, run to cover, gtf out of there, etc then its not a gear issue (well I suppose it can if you have so much that it prevents movements)). Another reason is being fit is a bit more cut and dry and easy to find out through other outlets, if you want to be fit there are web sites, magazines, books, etc that specialize in it but reliable technical information related to firearms and gear can be harder to come by. At least these are some of my thoughts on the matter.
You do of course have those people who think buying the most expensive weapon and gear is all they need and will be grossly out of shape, horrible shots, not have any experience applying knowledge, and ultimately fuck themselves over in the end. Chances are if they are shamed into trying to get into shape they will end up doing hydroxy cut or some crap like that instead of putting work into it much like being able to run and gun.
You know it’s kind funny but I have wondered what sort of lifestyles the people lead that often speak of the shtf scenarios.
I came to the conclusion that many of them might be in the 35 and under age range. Generally healthy. A reasonable portion being military, private security or LE.
The rest I reasoned were in the 40 - 60 range and probably not Marathon runners but more than able to make it through reasonable physical activity no problem.
Obviously I have no clue nor any means to know. It’s just the image I conjured up. Of course the last image I conjured up was of a 25 year old guy because he was always talking about martial arts and running. Turned out he was a health care CEO with several grand-children.
Then there is my old favorite saying. Familiarity breeds contempt.
It’s very easy for people “in the know” and/or those that have become saturated with “the same old thing” to find problems with Internet forums. It’s bad enough in everyday life but the nature of Internet forums really drives it to the forefront.
It’s a difficult thing to deal with from the forum owners all the way down to the guy that just joined and asked the wrong question on the wrong day.
Hm. Gym rat, ROWPU operator, am I right?
Maybe it’s the threads you are choosing to read. I see a lot of posts urging members to not spend their money on “Part A” but seek out quality training instead. I also frequently see members suggest for a new AR purchaser to add enough money for ammo into their budget rather than fill their rifle with the latest color fads.
Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) ?
If SHTF, we fat fuckers will be just getting to fighting weight when all you chicken legged bastards are dried skin bine bags. ![]()
Why does this merit being in the general AR subforum, exactly…?
