9 Parents from Newton suing bushmaster...

I don’t think this has been posted but just read a news article that 9 parents are suing bushmaster and the retailer that sold the gun. Basically stating that the guy should not be alowed to be sold to civilians as it was designed a military weapon…

Friggin retards.

Well it looks like it’s time to sue the manufacturers of GPS devices, freeze-dried or canned food, Duct Tape, programmable computers, Jeeps, and microwaves while we’re at…
You know, because these were invented for the military.

Good luck with that.

Will go absolutely nowhere.

Why is no one during the school for not having proper security? That makes more sense to me…but there I go again using rational though…

And all of the medical advancements we did…like the entire EMS system.

Isn’t this illegal?

Not illegal per se, but the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act severely limits what a gun company can be sued for by survivors of gun violence. BLUF: Onus is on the plaintiff to show that gross negligence, criminal act, violation of Federal or State law WRT marketing or selling, or defective product (and a few other narrow exception) caused the act.

Actually pretty light reading:

IMHO, winning their lawsuit will be nearly impossible. Every time a drunk driver kills someone do folks sue Ford Chevy and Budweiser? No, its personal responsibility. Why not sue the bullet maker the gun is a hammer with out bullets. More people are carrying weapons everyday and their guns just don’t jump out of their pockets and start shooting at people. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Its sad what happened in that school and I can never feel their pain but going after a gun maker is about as stupid as the SOB that did the shooting.

Link???

If I recall Bushmaster paid out$2 million to the victims families of the DC "sniper "shooting although I think it was a settlement rather than a ruling. Not 100% sure So it could happen again, Either way it’s Bullshit

Why don’t they sue the school system and the state for allowing their children to be stuck in a zone known to attract whack jobs with data to show it? That would actually be a worthy case by the parents that might actually set a precedent for improved security in the future, removal of gun free zones, etc. in other school districts.

Wouldn’t that be a lose-lose for everyone (except the attorneys)? Schools / state lose money, schools close, now they’ve created even more target rich “gun-free environments” for the next whack job, and they’re still at square one.
Just say “instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on legal fees, we’re going to hire armed security with this money.” Problem solved.

People sue McDonald’s over coffee which is too hot…

In that case, the incident, suit, and settlement all came before the PLCAA was passed in 2005.

How our “justice” system even allows these types of claims to get passed their junk mail pile is beyond me.

“Woman sues zoo after sticking her hand in tiger cage and losing 3 fingers”
They (the DoJ) need to stop messing with natural selection.

Thanks for the clarification

Actually, sue the consultant that designed the failed system and the contractor that installed it.

I don’t think that they even think they can win. They can file the suit, get it tossed and then use that to rail against the law protecting the gun manufacturers- great topic for them in 2016.

Those are good points…but I was going more for the security guards because I am sure thry are not armed, if they even exist.

Because that doesn’t make a political statement. Suing the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer does, though.
