Yea, Mark loaded some Nosler 300WM tonight for the weekend. We originally had some winchester or some other bag of shit when Nosler was sold out. So Mark loaded it without issue, but he said tonight that the Nosler was HEAD AND SHOULDERS BETTER.
The point is that the .260 is extremely popular in match shooting. Further, the overwhelming majority of .260 brass being used in matches is Remington brass. I just ordered a few hundred pieces of Remington to replace my Nosler brass. The Remington brass shoots fine for me with a small amount of case prep and it’s half the price of the Nosler brass.
It shot fine for me to just dosent last long enough.
One step closer! Waiting on the rifle now, Short Action Customs has the pieces.

Where did you score the 140Amax loads?
I just picked up a 6.5CM bolt gun not too long ago and I can tell you the AX chassis feels great - much better than the AICS I had on my .300WM years ago. As a bonus, it’s covered with flush cups.
I also ended up with a Krieger 1:8 barrel. Mine is Palma contoured, threaded 5/8x24 and finished at 24". The action is a custom Stiller with a built in 20MOA rail.

If you do go with the AX you’ll want to look at 1.25" or 1.375" rings, as the cheekpiece is quite fat and puts you at what is very nearly an AR-type positioning for your face relative to the scope rail.
Good luck, and good shooting!
That’s outstanding! I went with the med Palma contour based on Rob01’s advise and the monster MTU contour .308 I have, need training wheels for that one. I actually wanted to keep some thing relatively simple on this and did an HS M24 stock, PTG stainless steel BDL BM. I kept the NF 5.5-22 from the 300wm (mil/MLR) and will use the 20 moa NF base and either low or med rings(have both) most likely lows. The barrel is a Krieger ss, one thing I did change was it’s going to be 26.3" based one SAC’s advise, testing has showed that’s the accuracy node. I decided to have it threaded also with a thread protector and R&D brake indexed so hand tight and simple tightening of the clamping screw. Also doing the melonite treatment.
I did think on that AX since I do like the AICS’s also but wanted to save some weight, although I’m sure one day I will do a build with one!
Again, very nice rifle! what kind of velocity do you get with the 24"?
oh-Creedmoor Sports, only people I could find that had 1200 rounds.
… and that is why I hate the AX. That dumb tube that they put over the barrel serves no purpose other than to require higher rings to allow the objective bell to clear it. Never have liked those styles of chassis. My AICS might be an old design but she gets the job done.
The Tac-Mod chassis has a cut out forward of the receiver to alleviate that problem if looking for other options.
For me, it’s the cheekpiece that pushes my scope up, not the forward chassis tube. Frankly, whatever the cause, I don’t mind it. The AX fits me very well. I had no problem at all with my AICS LA other than it didn’t fit me that well and I was iffy on the thumbhole stock. But that was strictly personal preference.
To the OP, thank you. This thread really got me interested in researching the 6.5 creedmoor.
I’m sold. This is the round i’ve been looking for. Versatile, accurate, mild recoil, what else could you want? Tactical, target, and hunting.
My next bolt action will be a 6.5 creedmoor.
I know this is the “tactical” bolt action sub-forum, but this video is the cherry on top for me.
That’s my kinda load development. Ha Mark we’re shooting form the same lot # Let’s compare notes soon!

Sounds good! I was going to print out the “theory” sheets to start from then collect data as I shoot.
I’m hoping but I doubt I’ll get this before mid January. I’ll have to look at it for some time and dry fire then shoot it left shouldered for a few months after that.
