223 swaged brass.

I just got a sample pack from brass bombers. With pre swaged brass are the crimps supposed to be sticking above the case? Were they would be rubbing on the bolt face? I didnt even clean the primer pockets and with an rcbs hand primer they went in with no pressure what so ever, when i pushed harder it defaced the primer, some pockets look squared. Iam new to this but i primed 5 cases and the primers went in with no pressure what so ever.
Is this a sign of good swaging were they have no pressure to install? Should i sand the bottom of the cases were theres no lip on them? If you run your thumb nail over theres burs sticking up. They have removed the crimps thats for sure.
Unless this hand primers alot more power full than iam thinking the pockets seem crazy. The brass is great though nice and clean. But i cant even feel the primers seat but the seat depth is right. Lc brass btw.

I guess the only way to tell is load some up and see what happens?
Not bashing, just dont know…maybe iam being picky but if this is what a swager does ill spend the time to do them by hand with a reamer.

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THRED THINGS HAVE CHANGED…thank you. This post edited after posting…

The pocket could be over swagged if it’s loose. If that’s the case, it could start blowing out your primers.
I always like a tight fit that takes a little force to push the primer in.

I couldnt even feel the primers go in.theres no resistance what so ever. There should be some resistance right? I took the shell off becouse i thought the primers werent feeding.at least i know my hand primer works.

There should be some resistance when hand priming.

Do you have a set of calipers that you can use to measure the primer pocket dimensions?

Semper Fi

This is why I don’t even swage my own brass… let alone buy someone else’s handy work.

I use the pocket reamer from Hornady in a power drill.

Yup, ill be doing it myself,i have that setup to mark…primed 3 more seemed like one had resistance, ive got some 223 fed i shot iam going to deprime them today and seat a primer in one to feel it maybe its just me.
And if someones gona get a bad batch it will be me. After spending 9 hours in my p/u truck trying to stop a family thing yesterday ,i did manage to score some win.231 pistol powder, been trying to fing unique but my books have load data for 231 so for now thats what ill be useing.

I did one of my brass,i think its just me maybe,it seated ABOUT the same.now that ive done those can i just pop the primers in my ar so i can resize them? There cci primers. I didnt bother to resize becouse i was worried about the swaging.

I just wanted to post this. I called them this morn. to see if they had a bad bunch or if it was just me.
It went to voice mail so i just hung up,thought oh well screw it. Not worth even leaving a voice mail.

They called me back off caller id i guess. The guy was SUPER nice and said sometimes the rods get worn a little bit. And that he would ship me out another batch today for free, and that he would check them before shipping and go check the rods.

He said that the burs from the crimps are becouse these cases are from the new green bullets, and they are useing a 4 point crimp instead of the old oval. I asked him if it would hurt if i sanded them off or just shoot them as is,really its not bad. He thought i was asking him to sand them off, and was gona do it.lol.

I laughed and said no man you dont have to do that iam just asking… Thats customer service right there. Keep in mind i only ordered a sample pack of 200 not 2000 and didnt even leave him a voice mail or call back number.

Iam impressed, even if i dont order anymore swaged cases from them, they will be getting my money from now on just for this. Iam so tired of ppl not careing any more. This is a breath of fresh air…

Wow. That’s pretty cool of them.

I’ve never had an issue with the brass from them but this is good to know. Glad it worked out for you OP.

Just when I was thinking of ordering some extra LC brass from them, this thread made me second guess it… now I’m second guessing my second guessing. Pretty cool that they are taking care of it for you.

Ya right if their that good with customer service, what if you actually complained about something.
The guy laughed when i was talking about the burs kinda like jeeze ok ill do it.but he was gona do it.
He was gona sit there i guess and sand off these tiny little crimp burs, thats what got me.

I went back there and can just knock them off with my thumb nail pretty much. It makes sense looking at the cases if they have a 4 point crimp instead of an oval crimp. So now we know even the crimps different on the new green ammo. And iam guessing thats why they had a squared off appearance becouse of the 4 point crimp, becouse when the primers were put in the pocket they looked round and ok,thats what threw me. Ive never seen it before.

Let me restate that the brass is good looking brass,i havent gone through all 200 just grabbed 15 or 20 and looked at them.
They tumble the brass before removing the primers,so the primer pockets are sooty but ill throw them in the vib media tumbler after i resize the brass, but the rest is bright and shiny. Also free shipping…

Just thought i would let you guys know, they did send me another packet of brass, very nice stuff.
It came in the mail today. Seems like a great company. I will be ordering more as soon as i get some of this sorted out.

Ive been removing the crimps outa the 9mm i ordered from them, really nice brass.
Doing it by hand so marks right its a pain in the butt, but the brass is worth iit. Its pretty much all the same year, maybe 25 outa 500 that werent. If you dont mind a sore finger its great.lol
