2017 Movie: Hostiles with Christian Bale

New Mexico has a good history of major motion picture production, and in the past I have contributed to various productions (horses for 3:10 to Yuma and The Missing) This latest I had no part in, but a buddy of mine was the Cavalry coordinator for this film. He is an expert in this area and he really adds to period correctness for the production. Another buddy was the Greenskeeper for the film. Lots of locals get hired when these films are made here. Hostiles was shot south and north of Santa Fe, and southeast of Las Vegas, NM closer to my place in the late Summer to Fall of 2016. Looks like a decent theater outing for the family and is in full release tomorrow.

I’ve been wanting to see this but it’s not in my area yet.

Same here, I love a good western. Christian Bale may be a spaz in real life, but the guy is a hell of an actor and stays very true to the times in the period pieces that I’ve seen him in. 3:10 to Yuma being a prime example. That and I haven’t seen Wes Studi for a long time in a movie, but loved him in Last of the Mohicans & Heat…dude’s a badass

Yeah, Bale is a douche. It’s good to see Wes Studi again. He was also in Dances with Wolves with Kevin Costner.

Most Hollywood actors/actresses have warts of some kind. Wes Studi has one of his homes here in New Mexico and he was arrested for DUI a couple of years ago.

When I was still in the Army, my wife and I got to attend a private function here in the State with Academy Award winning Actor, Gregory Peck, and his wife Veronique. Certainly a Hollywood Lefty but a charming and gracious man. Got to meet Michael Douglas over in Farmington, NM when he was making a film called: “Beyond the Reach”. Friendly fellow but I’m sure he’s a Pinko as well. I’ve always had a hobby of photography and making films. During that visit on the set, the Director of Photography was Russell Carpenter. He was the cinematographer for Jame Cameron’s “Titanic”. Watched some of the shooting for “Beyond the Reach”. They were using an all digital cinematography system using a camera called an Arriflex ALEXA. I got a lot of still shots during that production.

See him in Last of the Mohicans. He should have gotten an Oscar for that. One of the most ruthless villains in any movie I’ve ever seen.

If and when the X, Y, whatever gensters ever figure out that were played hook, line and sinker by the owners
of The United States of America Inc. it may produce more Magua’s than they can fathom.

I watched Hostiles last night and thought it was very good. Brutal, but good.

Yeah, watched it last weekend from Redbox. Slow in parts but overall pretty good. I can recommend it.

NM, beautiful country for sure.

Every time I have driven in the state I always admire it’s beauty. That and some of its remoteness is why so many films are shot there. Can’t have a bunch of air traffic and or transmission lines in the frame lol.

Look forward to seeing this one.
