1911 Lube?

What do you guys like and why… Oil or Grease?

Oil.

Weapon Shield or Slip2000 EWL are my personal choices.

I’ve been using Tetra and it works just fine.

Oil or grease? Depends on the part. Hi wear spots tend to get a little spot of grease with the oil, from me. Why? No method to the madness, just seems to work. I have used: http://www.militec.com/ for a while, and like it.

This: http://crusaderweaponry.com/shop.php looks amazing, and some people local to me swear by it. I still need to use up my Militec before I try it.

I know others that use mobile 1 with no complaints either. Seems a cheaper, no-fuss way to go for sure.

YMMV. Get a few top lubes and see what you like. Depending on what weight recoil spring you are running, especially with lighter loads, a thicker grease may give you slide drag.

FP10.

TW25B and Weapons Shield.

Best, Jon

Oil…i use the little brownell’s red stuff

And never look back.

I like the Wilsons grease, it stays where put and doesn’t run off.

Both!
Grease: Slide rails, barrel bushing, barrel lugs, link
Oil: everything else

Grease as it stays put.

Samey, same.

Miltec, but whatever you use, use plenty of it

Redline 20-50, works well in the AR too, and doesn’t breakdown as fast as petro products!

I used FP10 in the 90s and it was a good lube. Mobil 1 was also great. These days, I use ATF if I need an oil that’ll creep into the guts of a pistol.

For grease, I use TW25. Before that, I was using Lubriplate. Both good.

I use Tetra or Machine gunners oil.

ATB (Absolutely the Best) chain lube. Works great for all weapons.

The same Plastilube (aka, Lubriplate) that I use on my M1 Garands and M1 Carbine.

They do get a little sluggish is in sub-freezing weather.

Well I guess it was time for another lube thread.

Per this thread WeaponShield CLP and SuperLube Grease for me.

miltec for me too. I use their grease on the slide and the oil everyplace else.
