I will be getting a 15 inch MK4 to go on a 16 inch build. The MK1 I just put on a 14.5 is awesome. It has sold me on geissele. Not to mention the SD-3G I put in it as well.

How does it handle dissipating the heat?

totally missed replying to this, sorry. as you know, heat shields are more about insulating the shooter's hand and hand guard from a hot barrel than dissipating heat from the barrel, so it's not going to contribute towards cooling the barrel. how much it affects cooling and whether that's a practical concern, i don't know.
my .02 - for quad rails where you typically mount rail covers/panels on the rails that protect them and also insulate your hands from heat, i don't think heat shields are needed (although the VIS had them). but for tubular handguards and now this keymod, where people are less likely to cover with rail panels, a heatshield might be a good thing.

With any luck things will calm down before these are released. Not going to hold my breath though.
