Yeah I absolutely love mine. I feel that its an absolute great system. The only thing I feel the need to add is an optic. It shoots better than I can…as of right now:D. Just a little story when I was sighting in with just the irons, I got it dialed in and at 25 meters had a 5 shot group easily into a 3/4" group with of course a nice flyer at the end. It is very light and easy to manipulate. I’m not saying they are the best you could get, as this is my first AR, but I am absolutely satisfied. You won’t be disappointed if you decide to turn the key on one.

The best DI AR-15 on the market. IMO.
I’ve shot a lot of ARs, but KAC makes my favorite DI one.
+1 on the KAC SR15 E3 being one of the best AR options out there. It is by far the favorite rifle in my collection.
Absolutely love mine. Need more time behind it, only have 500 rds down the pipe so far.
I understand they have some proprietary parts, are they reliable enough for that not to be a worry?
The real notable proprietary part (bolt) is of such a design that it is inherently more robust than the “standard” AR design.
In the event something breaks, I’m sure KAC will be more than willing to take care of you.
I think its the best off the shelf AR you can get provided you want a spruced up AR to begin with. If all you want is a simple AR there are better options. If you want an out the box gun that is truly setup to do nearly everything then its the best out of the box choice.
Add up the features, and you cannot buy anything else for the same price or cheaper that has the same or better features.
The bolt is proprietary but you can either buy a spare or hold to KAC’s 20k round guarantee of replacement.
Knight’s SR15 is arguably the equal of any AR currently made. Quality and performance is top-notch and their understanding of the rifle as a system is un-matched in the industry. It is, afterall, where Eugene Stoner worked for several years before he died. They are not cheap, but I personally know several people who own the SR15; none of them are rich and all of them adore their rifles. I would recommend feeling one up in person if you can…the quality is obvious. Shooting one makes you look like a better shooter than you are. 
I really love mine as well. My only regret is it wasn’t my first AR. I really could’ve saved myself quite a bit of money over the years had I bought it first. Especially nice if you’re a southpaw too.
Top notch and nothing better in a DI gun. I can’t wait until the Magpul SR-15 E3 is released. Anxiously awaiting.

I agree with the comments above. No squabbles whatsoever with this rifle and it has all the inherent accuracy I will ever need. I had a minor CS issue at the start and Knight’s took care of it right away. Highly recommended.

I wrote an article for SWAT on a pre-production model awhile back.
I was impressed with the rifle on many levels. My main caveat is simply one of distrust and I would want a spare bolt in my possession. FWIW, the proprietary parts I’m aware of are the gas tube, barrel extension, bolt, and trigger. These could be problematic, but on the flipside one could easily change out the barrel and bolt for standard parts (and same thing for the trigger as an assembly) in a pinch or in some dire circumstance if needed.
One of the most surprising, and impressive, elements of the rifle was it’s relative weight when the list of features and specs is taken into account.
Perfect timing on this thread. I fondled one of these just yesterday and the first thing I noticed was the weight. Very god wieght for what it has for sure. Also found it was well balanced, pointed well, and just “felt” good.

What is the extractor life on an SR-15? Same as any other AR? I know it is a ball park figure. I would have an extra complete bolt for mine as well if for nothing else than piece of mind. Or at minimum the “field repair kit”. For those that know can you buy a spare gas tube?
Good point, thanks for reminding me. I’d want a spare extractor and springs too.
