yankee hill machine

Hello everyone !! Just joined and would like some advise on what parts should I use in building a ar15 I like yankee hill machine ,now what’s your opinion pro’s and con’s . Thanks

I personally own a YHM Spectre carbine. I’ve had it for almost 2 yrs now and its never given me trouble. The ONLY thing about it I wish they’d looked into when designing this weapon was weight savings.

It’s a bit of a boat anchor compared to other weapons in it’s price bracket.

Thanks !! I take that in consideration when ordering mine

I used a Yankee Hill railed forearm (don’t remember the model) but it was heavy too.

they have been an o.e.m. mfg to all the largest companies for years in this business. lately they have started going to shot show and selling with more emphasis on dealers. the gen mgr, is 1 of the most knowledgeable people in this business but very low profile. good man.

the gear is good and i see a lot of it (but not on Grants site, from courtesy) if i listed the mfg who buy form them it would floor you. have little or no returns. sold. good price. nice people.
much better to deal with than some of the “hi speed mfg” in this business, who are ass hole vendors, cause their gear is hot now.

get a bad rap form the gun bunnies on wannabe gun boards through ignorance. good solid gear.

I am not a fan of their stuff for several reasons. Some of the sights they make are pure junk. Their rail system isn’t that great either. I am especially not fond of the way that rail mounts to the barrel nut and that “locking band” or whatever the hell it is.

I know the ones that we had which was a Bushamster/ YHM package deal had no anti-rotation screws. They were also a PITA to take apart when necessary. For the cost I would probably look at MI or Daniel Defense.

but u bought bush master right ???
now there is a tier 1 gun as we all know
guess i will have to stop selling yhm.

good luck

JJW,

I am not going to defend IG. He can do that himself but please give a little bit more respect to the moderators on here. This just seems to be happening too often lately.

No. It’s called my former employer purchased 500 of them based on bad information and an immediate need for them. I had nothing to do with it and only had to deal with the consequences.

Someone asked about YHM and I expressed my thoughts and experience. Nothing more or less.

Thanks guys !! Again it’s all your idea’s that will make me decide what upper, lower.etc to get, if i may can you all give me some sugestions on what to buy in all area’s of the gun would like to start ordering parts next week Thanks hehaw

Let start with what you plan to do with your build… Most here would agree that in order to give a proper recommendation or opinion, we must first establish what the purpose of you build is.q

I really don’t know , I guess it’s just the though of building one from start to finish ,from everyone’s idea and to get the best bangtfor your buck .Hope this will help somewhat Thanks Hehaw

Bushmaster sells lots of their rifles.
Selling volume does not make Bushmaster tier one any more than
you selling lots of Yankee Hill Machine makes YHM tier 1.
No logic.

Anyway. OP.

The only experience that I have had with YHM was with a set of their flip sights. The sights had an extreme amount of side to side play; between the mounting base and the folding structure at the point of articulation. I was not impressed at all.

As to the quality of other YHM products I can not say. However, I can attest to the quality and relative value of the following manufacturers and products, through personal hands on experience.

BCM – barrels and uppers ( comparable in price to BM and others, and if nothing else would matter to you, they are 1/7 twist)
Troy – sights and rails ( very high quality sights, excellent rail for the price MRF series has 2-4 anti rotation tabs, trx and trx extreme are very light weight)
Midwest Industries – Rails ( However, I do prefer troy because of the narrower design)
DSA – Stripped lower ( I have purchased several of the blemished lowers for a very good value and they are a quality product)

That should get you going.

Also…
When you say that you like YHM, do you like the way that it looks, the type of parts that it has, the way that they handle, etc. ???

Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you choose.

THanks for info looks like bcm makes one hell of a barrel and upper also i do like troy handrails
