X300U & Li-Ion Rechargable 123As

Contemplating purchasing x300u. I’m partial to using rechargeable batteries when I can. I understand run time would be about half. Rechargeable Li-Ions run at 3.7 volts which is fine in other lights I have. Surefire LFP 123a rechargeable is rated at 3.2v. Is 3.7 v ok with the Surefires? Since this light most likely is high drain is it safe to use Li-Ions? Surefire offers a rechargeable, are there any other safe brand / source recommendations?

On the Surefire site, they recommend to only use Surefire brand or batteries from established, well-known manufacturers such as Panasonic, Energizer, or Duracell. Those cheap batteries made in Asia that they sell on Ebay or other sites should be avoided. They offer warnings about low quality damaging lights and voiding their warranty. They go into depth on their site about what they view as acceptable battery usage. They do specifically say that low quality batteries can catch fire or explode during use.

I suppose that you can use any battery that you want, but you risk voiding your warranty.

Thanks, I’m already equipped with cr123 li-ion batteries, charger etc. They work fine in other lights. Reason for this post. It appears that maybe surefire may not be using over voltage protection on their lights. If I go with the x300u, I guess I’ll step up to the surefire rechargeables.
