I ran across this and am stupified that in this day and age people continue to get away with things like this. Let this be a warning to all that PT Barnum is alive and well, and that he and others like him have learned that the new soft-spot for people is “Homeless Veteran” - it seems to shut their BS meters off very quickly - even 2-star decorated Marine generals!

The press gets involved, but in their usual “We’re going to misreport, misquote to get emotions high, and not do our research into this guy”:

This guy who got drummed out of the Army for abuse of power and position, fondling and groping women (and who knows what he did BEFORE he joined the Army during his tenure as a priest in other locations), then racked up foreclosures left and right, probably has been skimming money from donations, and then gets a VA grant of almost $500,000 and a county grant of almost $350,000 plus a private donation of $250,000 and almost gets away with it.
What amazed me more than anything is that you can see from the comments on both St. Pete Times articles as well as what the neighborhood went through in being painted as hateful, anti-veteran bastards, is that people put their blinders on and have knee-jerk reactions when people say “veteran” and “homeless”
It is truly frightening, and Goebbels would be proud.
