Would be Mass Public Shooter Stopped by an Employee with a Concealed Handgun Permit
On Friday, June 23rd, 2023, an employee at Turnberry Towers near Karen and Paradise shot a gunman who walked in and fired shots at the front desk. Fortunately, an employee at the building with a concealed handgun permit was able to quickly stop the attack before anyone else was hurt.
The Mass Shooters union I’m trying to start would not approve of this reckless vigilante behavior. People are supposed to be good little doobies and soak up bullets!
It’s the knowledge of CC permits that keeps so many cowards from even taking their first shot. Can you imagine if no one could carry a gun, it blows me away to think.
I always think how stupid it is to tell Arizonians “No Guns allowed in The Burrito Factory”. Can you imagine Joe nut case goes to the burrito factory to kill his boss and girlfriend but low and behold he sees that sign and tells himself, “my plan is blown- no guns allowed”. Or the other options is he says fck it and goes in and kills everyone BC people left their guns in their cars. How stupid to put such a sign up.
Reminds me of the Luby’s Cafeteria shooting in 1991. A woman left her gun in the vehicle to comply with the laws and a shooter walked in and killed her parents and more than 20 other people. Suzanna Hupp would become an advocate for conceal carry and became a Texas State Representative in 1996.
I remember that incident. Forcing the lady to retrieve her gun from the car is giving the Shooter a fair chance!
It’s NOT FAIR to the shooter if someone can surprise him with quick return fire. Next thing you know, NO ONE will want to become an active shooter. That’s not a world I want to live in!!
I had a troop that had a nasty accident with a fire suppresion system in an Abrams Tank, he was installing a fire bottle and was a bit in over his head and kaboom, fire extenguisher bottle to the for head, then the back. It ping Ponged around the turret until it nearly killed him and finally ran out of gas.
He was laying up in the intensive care unit in Darnell Hospital, Ft Hood and his Fiancee and Future Mother in Law stopped by to see him.
They stopped by Luby’s afterwards for dinner before driving back to Dallas.
Same link as Will’s, but that F’er got LIT up. Is he wearing a bike helmet? Did he walk in and start to walk out and then got LIT up from behind? Kudos to the CCWer for realizing that sometimes, you need to shoot people in the back…
Watching that again, I see what you mean. I thought he was being shot at from the front, but watching again, it looks more like he walked in and shot at the front desk, decided to leave (due to seeing a gun pointed at him?) and was lit up from behind. No doubt saved some lives that day.
Here is the bodycam footage from the officer that took out the murdering turd at the Allen, TX mall back in May. Officer is talking with a mom and her kids when he hears the shoots, grabs his carbine and gets to work…
Goddamn that was wild. From seatbelt safety talk with kids to running towards the gun fire.
I don’t care who you are, you can be an olympic athlete, adrenaline and stress will burn the gas fast. Just the mental shift in gears can make you feel like you just ran a mile. Everyone seems to process a little different.
I’ve seen guys with security guard builds who are so experienced they can move through buildings like a machine and take stairwells like a stroll in the park. And I’ve seen guys who look like they live in the gym who are gassed after 5 minutes of hunting for “guy with a gun.”
I takes a lot to run towards the shooting, making sure you don’t get ambushed along the way, making sure you don’t shoot a bystander by mistake, making sure you tell people who are standing around wondering what to do to get the hell out of here now and basically trying to make sure you don’t do anything wrong. Might as well be packing 90 lbs or plates because that is what the stress feels like.
Talk to a guy who’s ever been cut off and pinned down. As often as not you will hear things like “I couldn’t even focus to shoot accurately, I was sucking wind, I was disorientated.”
Rest assured that when it was all done, that officer probably felt responsible for some of the 15 people shot and will forever be thinking “if only I got there sooner…” In reality from first shots to last shots, given what looked like a couple hundred yards, 5 minutes isn’t bad. It looks like he got good shots on target from the moment he saw the shooter. From the vid it looked like maybe a 50 yard shot, which is not bad.
Crazy shit for sure, lucky thing he just happened to be there…this shit could have been much, much worse had scumbag gone unchallenged even for a few more minutes.
I’d like a site plan of the officer’s original location when he heard the shots, the route he ran and where he was when he engaged and position of dead turd. If you check out the satellite shot that place is pretty sprawled out, the cop was probably doing some major hoofing.
ETA:
So I geeked out on the satellite image and compared it to the bodycam footage, the cop start near the main south entrance, he ran about 425-450 yards to the opposite side of the mall before he start shooting, I can’t tell where the scumbag was when he first opened up but he was about 110 yards away where he fell. Good job dude, I would have been huffing and puffing, too.
