It sounds as the Soldier was pretty banged up. Fourteen hours is a long surgery, thankful that he was able to stand it and that there are folks that dedicated.
A lot of effort to give this Soldier a shot at a semi-normal life. I hope with this off his plate he is able to better recover from all his trauma - mental and physical.
Reminds me of an old joke. Guy gets in a car crash and a jagged piece of sheet metal slices his pecker off. He was in his late fifties and didn’t miss it much but one day he saw an article in the newspaper about a doctor doing transplants. He made an appointment to talk to the doc. The doc was explaining how they re connected the nerves and blood vessels but decided showing the guy might help him understand. He leaves the room and comes back with one about 4-5 inches long. The guy thanked the doc for the explanation but trying to not look ungrateful told him that the one he had was bigger. The doc left the room again and came back with one about 6-7 inches long and as thick as a fat sausage. The guy thanked the doc again but insisted the one he had was longer and thicker. The doc went back one more time and produced a penis that was 10-12 inches long and as big around as a beer can! The guy said… That’s it doc but do you have one in white? I mean no disrespect for the injured soldier.
IIRC that means needing immunosuppressants, which means his military career’s over… but if I gotta choose between career and a chance at starting a family it’s “Sorry boss, YOU LOSE” every time.
All jokes aside, I hope it works for the poor SOB. He’s going to be on some nasty immuno suppressive drugs for the rest of his days and will be at much higher risk of cancers, etc.
