Wonder why Congress is a running joke?

This sums up my reason why I think Congress is a running joke. People that have been in office for so long they have lost a grip on the real world and those that have no idea WTF is going on.

You know, no matter how good we were in our prime, everyone needs to know when to step away and pass the position on to someone willing, able and qualified to do your job.
He is embarrassing himself and isn’t capable of keeping good order, nor is he making his position look both capable and honorable.

Having stayed too long, is sad and I have done it in my past. Sometimes the culture you are working with become unrelatable.

Leahy should not have been presiding over the trial in the first place, what a shit show…

Jesus christ, how do they manage to regularly F over our rights in that committee by condo rules environment.

Because they can, and intend on changing everything !

I don’t think the time in office really affects the “grip” on the real world. AOC is a prime example of not knowing ****-all before ascending to Congress.

AOC auditioned for that job and was a moron going in.
Nothing has changed.

It boggles the mind that out of 330 million people, these are the best 535 that we can come up with. (Looking for Homer “headslap” emoji)

Who the hell is that woman feeding lines to the tired old man that is completely confused about what is being asked, and what to say about it? He repeated her statements word for word, and she’s giving him papers to read from directly. Why doesn’t she just sit in his chair?

For this to be a joke, it would need to be funny. Even a little funny.

I think we could do just as well if we elected Congress by random lottery, like jury duty. You go do your two years and then you are never eligible again. You walk out to your mailbox and are like “F…I’m a senator.”

Presidential elections would be decided by who is the 45th caller to a stated radio station with the correct daily “phrase that pays.” I figure if they are fast enough on their feet to manage that, they are qualified to be president.

The Supreme Court would be made up of people who have recently been fired from a 20+ year occupation over some procedural or office guideline regulations. That way we’d have justices who are naturally resistant to passing some kind of BS that is going to F over people for rinky dink nonsense.

We need a constitutional amendment incorporating this criteria.

My sister’s father-in-law had an idea: keep the original ratio of people to Representative, 30k:1 – “The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative.” That would give us almost 10x more representatives than we have now I think (based on some other articles I read that listed a close to 300k to one ratio). And make it a part time job with some minimal stipend – like many states due with their legislatures. And term limits that don’t reset.

This has many positives – you are more likely to know your representative personally. He or she is more likely to be a “normal” person in your community and not a politician. The city I live in has 100k people and would have 3+ reps. There are so many reps that you can’t bribe them all to support whatever inane ideas you have. Much harder to get a consensus on things to pass so you get a lot less passed (since most of the stuff that passes is BS that is good in my book). And the professional politician class would go away since there is no money or career to be made.

Add to that my idea that for every law passed, 2 have to be stricken from the books.
