Wolff spring for m&p

I have an m&p40 that came with a blue spring. I sent the gun in to get serviced and SW sent it back with the stronger green spring. My reloads ftf once in a while, and shooting one handed, they do quite a bit and they are not extremely light 180gr over 5.2gr unique.

I didn’t reload before but never had a problem and the tula I used to shoot was softer shooting than my reloads, so I bought a 16# wolf spring (same as blue).

I know ss rods were not recommended for CZ back when I had one, but I’m wondering about the m&p.
Is there any potential long term effects I might want to know about? I plan on carrying with the factory green spring as duty rounds have not yet caused an issue, but may switch once reliability is verified. Anyone see an issue with this I might be missing?

Thanks.

Do you have this issue with factory? If not then I’d lean towards your reloads. You might want to chronograph to see what the speed is of them. If they are weak then that would explain FTF.

I load 5.7 grains of Unique with a 230 gr ball (45 acp) going 850
I load 5.6 grains of Unique with a 124 gr ball (9mm) going 1150

So without looking up the load data to me 5.2 seems light for a 180 gr ball. Hope this helps

I did have the issue with factory loads. Never with the original spring.

The main things I’m looking for is reasons to stay away from the Wolff springs. I stay with factory as much as possible but the factory blue springs don’t exist in the market right now.

Is S&W not selling spare parts anymore?

Hope the link works. I’m fairly certain that they are in stock.

I’m surprised to hear that the Green will not work. I installed a Green in my fathers M&P9 and it runs flawless with both factory or reloaded 9mm

Not only is it not in stock at G&R, midway says “temporarily unavailable”, not good signs… S&W rubbed me the wrong way when they stopped selling barrels, if they stop selling other spare parts I don’t see why anyone would buy into the platform at this point when Glock spare parts are ubiquitous. Hopefully there is another explanation why they are currently not available.

I was in G&R today and they had 5. Email Grant and he should be able to set you up as the website prob hasn’t been updated yet.

Well shit. I already dropped $25 on the Wolff set. I was buying something else and didn’t want to get hit with 2x shipping. I’ll call next time. I’m still wondering if I need to watch ch for anything, excessive wear? I never read of someone using this for an mp so I’m wondering if there’s reason.
