Wolf 154 gr SP

Any good news on this stuff?

Depends on the date of manufacture, Wolf early on was turning out some bi-metal open ended jacketed soft points with hard lead cores which did absolutely nothing on impact but act like a FMJ. Then Wolf soften up the lead core a bit but the bullets failed to expand reliability because the open unlocked/non-bonded rear failed to hold the expanding bullet together. Then for a short time Wolf turned out a nicely made closed end soft lead core bullet which had jacket notches to aid with early expansion, this version worked very well for the short time it was available but Wolf ended up changing back to the earlier second generation bullets which did expand but very erratically.

From what I was able to learn about the decently performing version it was a very limited procurement Wolf used when their normal 154gr bullet supply was interrupted for a short time. I have a few cases I’m saving for a rainy day or if I ever make it back to Texas for a year long pig hunt once retired.
