WML use on AR at 1200

I know this will work:

Will this?: https://dsgarms.com/inf-wmlx

The bezel is a bit larger - will it block the front sight too much?

I think you should be fine I have the WML and it is a very low light, noticeably lower than my TLR-1s. The WMLX is a tad higher than the WML about the same as the TLR that I was running for a while. (I don’t have specific measurements, other than I played with the WML and the WMLX at a local store alongside my TLR-1 so this is just from memory). I went with the WML since you could program high-low or low-high and it was shorter than the WMLX, they are pretty long lights the way the switch is designed. The WMLX is BRIGHT!!!

Thanks. You brought up the other apprehension. Would the length make it harder to employ and clear the FSP with the thumb? Thanks again.

All of the extra length on the WMLX is on the front of it, from the mounting point back it is exactly the same. So assuming you have a rail mounted FSP accessing the switch will be exactly the same for either one, only difference is the WMLX will stick out further past the rail. Especially if you have a folding FSP, you will have no issues with either accessing the button. It really is very natural feeling. I love the light.

How do you plan on using the light, I want to reiterate again that the WMLX is very bright compared to the WML. That was the final factor for me. I found that 200-300 is the best general lumen (for what I would be using it for). 500 lumen in an enclosed area (ie, home/hallway) is a TON of light, especially since the WMLX is either off or high beam only.

The problem I had with the WML at 1200 was consistently operating the switch. You have to push more forward than down. It was not a natural motion for me. I run mine on Haley offset mounts. Easier to work the switch and out of my FOV.

I plan to use it fwd of the FSP just like the Surefire - which you have to push forward also. (I have two carbines with DD OmegaX FSP rails). I use a stubby grip to provide a stop for my weak hand. I don’t want an off-set mount as I do want it narrow and ambidextrous. I think 200 may be fine. There is a trend for “brighter is better”, but you are right, indoor scenarios would be hard with 500.
