Witt Machine has suppressors on sale for $250. Anyone familiar with them? The rifle ones are direct thread and claim to be low back pressure and hearing safe.
That’s what cans SHOULD Cost!! I’d love a cheapo direct thread 30 cal for my 308 and 9mm can for my kid’s sub gun.
Witt Machine sells both. I’ve noticed on their site you can pay for a can and they will hold it until January so you don’t have to pay the tax. I haven’t seen @1168 around in a while, maybe he will drop in and comment on Witt Machine.
Even us mods are checking out… I’m only here once every 2-3 days now usually.
Been looking at Witt’s SME blastcans for a while, waiting to hear feedback before I consider one on a Home D PDW.
So is buying a can online a pain in the ass being that it’s NFA?
Buying pistols online is fairly easy these days, but I’ve never bought a can online.
I have not purchased online, but I won a can at Gunsite (vendor promo) last year and that “transaction” was done online. Went smooth, I signed/filled out everything online, online pic and mailed prints. They mailed it straight to the house, signature required. Living in the boonies I ended up having to pick it up at the post office because they don’t deliver to my house. My mailbox is a little more than a mile up the road. If you get mail at the house you should just have to answer the doorbell and sign.

No, they form 3 it to whatever dealer you want after you pay and if you’re using the SS kiosk it’s pretty much the same as buying from your local dealer. I’ve bought a few from SS, both B&T cans that were exclusive and on sale and just picked up at my dealer when approved. Now with speedy approvals quicker than ever.

I wonder if the local dealer still charges the $50 transfer or if an NFA is more.
If they have a SilencerShop kiosk, they agree to not charge a transfer for silencers purchased from SilencerShop. Most shops do charge more for NFA…and considering your shop is already double what I pay for regular transfers, I won’t guess what it would be.

Yep. $50 is the standard here for most established FFLs. There are some sketchy FFLs near me that pop up on Gunbroker’s FFL search. I just pay for a real storefront dealer.
The dealer closest to me has the kiosk. There prices are proud. There’s a YHM direct thread there for $500 that’s probably about the same as Witt’s $250 can.
I’d steer clear unless budget is your only driving factor.

Not a lot of suppressor experience, but i do have a Canooter.
Hearing safe is 120db and has been stated as such for years.
No way Canooters are hearing safe, but I don’t believe anything with a supersonic crack is hearing safe either.
The 3 prong end cap is not great on flash. No idea why they didn’t just copy an A1/A2. This was from using various .223 and 5.56 loads that have little to no noticeable flash with A2 or YHM Phantoms.
I don’t recall getting much, if any, gas to the face when using the Canooter that is versus an Aero standard Lahar 30 (.30 hole) that gives quite a bit of gas to the face. Both observations were while using one of the BCM upgrade charging handles, but otherwise standard ports, gas blocks, and carriers.
I don’t think you would be happy with one on an 11.5", although they do knock some of the decibels off.
16"+ and you might be very happy depending on what you want to do with it/expect from it.
The Canooter is light and tiny compared to the Lahar 30 that, while quieter, still isn’t hearing safe.
Using it for very low round count shooting(something like deer/coyote hunting), while being on foot for longer distances, while not wearing muffs/plugs will probably be a positive and/or using it with plugs/muffs to reduce exposure works.
For their current price, no sin tax, and keeping the above pros/cons in mind I think they can probably be justified. If they had a better flash hider i would lean over to really thinking it is a good gadget to pick up.

So far the best combo of sound, weight/size, and cost i have been around on an AR is a YHM R9, although it is limited to 16"+ barrels for most centerfire rifle rounds.
We’ve been so close to grabbing the YTM R9 from the store close to me. Perfect for my kid’s sub gun.
I have heard one on various 4.5" +/- 9mm pistols and with *subsonic ammo it sounds good, but haven’t heard it on longer 9mm barrels.
- Forget which brand of “subsonic” 9mm he had that had the occasional supersonic round in the box.
And it was comfortable with .300 subs.
5.56 from a 16" barrel sounded better to me while shooting and off to the sides and rear than other .223 cans I have been around(as mentioned, not a lot) and the .30 Lahar on an AR. Still has the not hearing safe crack so more than a few rounds is going to need plugs/muffs.

It’s honestly kind of tempting. I might do the 30cal one for fun.
