The federal ban has sunset. Therefore, unless you live in a state that has a local AWB (E.G: MA, NY, CT), the configuration of the rifle is irrelevant. I.E. You can hang a kitchen sink on it, and nobody would care, as long as all other applicable federal laws are followed. (NFA)
If you were to sell it to someone in a ban state, then, the rifle would have to comply with that state’s law.

You need to call Colt. They can usually tell you the DOB based on serial number. Colt only sold complete rifles, so if the DOB is is pre-ban, you are good to go.
