What you guys think about that “type” of food Wise and other companies are selling that could last up to 25 years…?
Sound promising… They sent me a sample which I haven’t tried yet, But as soon as I do, I will let you know.

It’s freeze-dried food along the same lines as Mountain House. It’s worth noting that their long-term food storage deals on the website are pretty limited and amount to just above starvation level caloric intakes. With any of these suppliers of freeze-dried/dehydrated foods the sodium levels tend to be really high. They are also relatively expensive. The same amount of money buys a shit-ton of grain, beans, lentils, rice, and so on. The meals are pretty easy to fix (add hot water) and lightweight which makes transportation easier (which is why they are popular with backpackers).
As a primary food source for long-term TEOTWAWKI/SHTF they aren’t very practical based purely on cost. But they do make a worthy addition merely because of the ease of preparation and lightweight.
You are absolutely right on the high sodium and thanks for the input. One thing I noticed is that the sample they sent is a serving for 4 adults, but honestly I think that would be a serving just for 2 or probably me, since I eat alot… Now, I know this is survival mode so we have to eat just the necessary. Another thing is, I’m planning storing food for 4 adults, but my sister in law eats for 4, Wifey said we gonna have to drop her if SHTF LOL 
I really don’t like how they divide out the portions. The salt thing is also another turn off…But they are affordable.
I dont like it either, as you can see why in my previous post :p. But one thing I noticed, one of the representatives made a video on youtube showing how to cook it, how the portions would look and if those portions will keep you on your feet… As per him supposedly the small portions filled him up to the point where he was not hungry.
It may fill him, but does it provide enough calories and nutrients for the body to function? Let alone under duress?

As with canned foods you get high sodium. I have Mountain House (who recently came out with severl low sodium options) and Wise Food in my stores.

Wow very interesting article, I think I have to get in contact with them and ask them for a sample to see how good it tastes, Wise sent me a Stroganoff something sample… that I haven’t tried yet.
As per canned foods, I noticed GOYA canned beans have a shelf life of 4 years in it, I bought a few cans with expiration of 2017.
i will live with the extra sodium if it means i get to eat real meat instead of flavored soy byproduct <- Wise.
MH actually tastes good. I really want to try that saratoga farms brand that the ready store pushes, but i havent done enough research yet.

I also called them…It looks like MH was not too happy with the competition, and changed their mind when they started to use the same packaging technique for their emergency foods not in cans.
Whoah, true in that part since there is plenty of more competitors that have the “bucket & pouch” thing. But I was checking MH website and it looks they haven’t come out with the bucket yet.
I am looking forward to tasting it, when I found about this the first time I thought Wise was “like” the only company on this, but as more and more started showing up in google, might as well just try each and decide which one is better.
i kind of wish they would have provided thier own lab results instead of just saying “why us”. thier response was vague and given the massive advertising effort that wise has been doing lately, mountain house decided to single them out. they even have commercials on talk radio now. i think its a good move for mountain house because if wise puts out all this press and people try it and taste it, they will never try that type of food again because wise tastes terrible. and mountain house doesnt want to be lumped in with them. i dont know too much about advertising, maybe MH is planning on testing other brands as well. i kind of wish a survival website would take all the major players and run them through a series of tests. like consumer reports for freeze dried food. that ought to set the record straight.
You might also check out Breedlove. They do freeze dried buckets o food for a good bit cheaper. It’s relatively low calorie so may not be great under duress but still handy none the less. I picked up a bucket that is supposedly a 30 day supply for 4 people (probably two weeks or so in the non starvation world) for just over $100 shipped. Taste isn’t bad and it has a 25 yr shelf life.
Have to call to place the order but worth checking out.

While I have a ton of Mountain House I have stopped buying it as canned foods are cheaper to buy and rotate for use at my primary bug-in location.
The real benefit of M/H is that of weight savings when used in packs but if you don’t have the water to prepare the contents the raw powder and crunchy items can be nasty to eat.
So I keep my M/H divided equally between my retreats backed up with heavy canned stores.
We received a email from Wise foods today. The email stated that due to unexpected expenses that Wise foods was going to increase in cost 10 percent effective end of month.
That’s a huge cost hike. We suspect that the others such as MH will start to inflate as well.
Suggest you buy now and save a few bucks. We don’t think a 30 percent increase is out of the question in the next year.

I got into a package deal with Wise Foods because of that. I got a locked in price.
I would start by buying little by little, Unless they know something is about to happen soon and that’s why they are inflating the price. I’m starting by canned beans which for now I noticed, 4-5 years to expire.
Canned beans will last a lot longer then 3/4 years if stored right. No secret that we have 130 cases of number 10 canned regular foods along with our FD selections. Try and make your purchases balanced IE main foods, fruits and veggies. Don’t forget vitamins and minerals to sup your diet.
Ten percent of 1500 dollars or more is a significant increase in costs, not to mention shipping costs.
Have to agree with PPD if your behind the curve regarding food storage, canned foods are the real only alturnitive.
