Wisconsin machine gun transfer/new regs. Help!

Hi guys,

I am looking forward to getting involved in smg events. One question though. Currently, I have a trust set up, through which I have transferred many NFA items through. However, as of last February, the BATF is now requiring a CLEO signature for machine gun transfers in my home state of Wisconsin.

I have not spoken with the local CLEO about this, but I have heard that he can be difficult (hence my trust). How do you recommend I approach him? Do I have any recourse if he won’t sign? Can I ask a CLEO from another county, or do I have to use mine?

The use of a trust negates the whole CLEO process so you must be confused. Please post where you found or saw this information.

Maybe it is a state law, and not something from BATFE?

If you do some research with Google and CLEO Signatures you will find detailed explanations as to who, what and why.

Here is the link to a conversation about the same law on ar15. Sounds like a state law that was not followed for many years by BATF.
