Anyboby have any suggestions on a lube for the winter? I have a bcm 16" carbine for duty use and an Aimpoint t-1. It gets cold as hell out here (2 degress w/out wind chill right now). I’m currently using Break Free clp as a lube, anything better out there for cold weather? The rifle is in the trunk of a squad. Also, are there any issues with the p-mags is extreme cold weather?
What is your sourse for LAW? I recommend it whenever this discussion comes up, however I get mine from Uncle Sugar, and have no idea where a non-mil guy can get it except from the obvious non-sustainable source. My google-fu is weak in this area since the info really isn’t all that pressing for me.
Removing the previous lube is key. I have found that mil comm TW25B works extremely well, it is rated from -95 to +450 degree Fahrenheit. Graphite(moly-lube) also works…but it is messy.
I have not had a problem with my pmags here in winter in Alaska. If you don’t let condensation build up, your AR should work in extremely low temps.
Actually, LAW stands for Lubricant, Aircraft Weapons.
Course it gets cold up high:D
If you can’t get LAW, use G-96. Again, as with LAW, remove all traces of the old lube to avoid the glue effect. Do likewise when reverting to your summer lube.
