Thinking on “pulling the trigger” on one.That said I’m trying to figure out if I want the rubber or micarta handle? any end users care to comment on both? or there preference?

You know what? I think youll really dig the rubber handle. Ive got two larger blades with coffin style hard rubber grips and I absolutely love them. They are very grippy, and durable.
Now, micarta…your not gonna go wrong there, either. If it were me…rubber.
IMO- the WORST f-ing handle material is paracord…I hate that crap on a knife.
BTW- thats a nice looking blade!!
i think it depends on your intended use. if it’s just for a stabby slashy thing, micarta is durable. if it’s actually as a utility knife, using it lots for camp chores, processing wood, etc., I think you’ll like the rubber more in the long run.
Rubber + Hard Use = Blisters. Rubber also gets slippery with sweat and fats/oils.
A good quality micarta/G-10 handle will serve you well. It also much more durable than any rubber grip. You have polish it up for everyday use, or put it on a 220 belt to get a good grip for gloves/wet use.
It’s a little late, but NO, you shouldn’t be able to crack it. Micarta is very durable. It’s basically a laminate of many layers of fabric. When’s the last time you cracked a pair of your favorite jeans?
