Winchester whitebox question

I was talking to an ammodealer I do some business with and I was contemplating winchester ammo 45 cal. The conversation turned suddenly when he said out of the blue “don’t buy the hundred round whitebox from Walmart”. When I asked what was the problem with it, he said its junk. He said look at the product code on the box, it’s not the same and everyone he talked to said it was low pressure junk made cheaper for Walmart by request so they could sell it for x amount less.

The boxes do look different, but I haven’t had a chance to chronograph it to see for myself.

Is this true? Or speculation relayed from person to person(he is in the business of selling ammo after all). Anyone who has checked the speed and knows for sure please chime in, for it will be quite a while before I can do this for myself.

Fwiw, although I’ve never chronoed the stuff, I have shot somewhere around 3k rounds of it in IDPA through two different Colts and had no issues.

That was about five years ago so unless it’s been downloaded I’d say it’s fine for punching holes in paper.
