My precision build is complete and will be breaking in the barrel as per Lija’s recommendations with some cheaper XM193.
Have not reloaded for the 223 since the mid 90’s when I shot a Colt HBAR.
Need to gather up my reloading components here over time.
Question is that the local area does not have much for match type ammo and wondered if anyone has shot the Winchester 223 69gr. match ammo.
Any accuracy or function comments are welcome.

If it’s the gray box, I had bad experiences. Function was fine, accuracy? Not impressed.
It was one of.the worst “match grade” rounds I tried. Best was vmax 60gr. The American Eagle 50 gr varmint tipped black box was close, extremely accurate, and about half the price.
This ammo is in a black box #S223M2 using the Sierra 69gr. HPBT Matchking bullet at 3060 fps.

Is this the ammo you are talking about?
If it’s the stuff in the picture, it was mediocre for me from an 18" SS bbl.
Mk 262 Mod 1 was more consistent in velocity SD, and put up better groups.
I shot it out of necessity for the DMR championship match, and while not the most precise ammo, my less than stellar placement (9th overall) couldn’t be blamed on ammo.
Yep, that’s the stuff.
It will be shot out of my 24" Lija 4 groove.
I think I will just pick up 2 boxes to try out.
Just need to find the time to shoot.

I have shot some that was really good, and some that was ok. All of it functioned 100%, but it just lacked consistency between different lots. If it is not around $0.60/round, I wouldn’t purchase much of it. I have been really pleased with the 77 gr. CBC ammo that price, though.
Well it is about a $1.40/rd.
It’s only money, so will pick up a couple boxes to try.
My rifle may like it, or it may not.

Yeah, am waiting for SG to get it back instock for I think $120~ for a 200 round cash. Figured if nothing else might be worth paying with. CBC though is cheaper, which is while I’ll likely be buying cases of that shit.
Yeah, I had bought a couple over-priced boxes, along with some other loads, of the Winchester at an Academy that shot the best out of a particular barrel. Then, I picked up 400 rd. from rareammo.com for $220 for that barrel, and it just didn’t shoot the same. I was disappointed, but for the price I’m not too upset. I have another barrel that isn’t as picky. I haven’t shot any of it since, though.
I try to avoid overpriced ammo, lol. I think my main interest is to use it as a sort of baseline idea of what my various ARs will shoot with decent ammo of various weights since I am hoping to begin reloading rifle here in the next year. Have one AR that will stack, well damn near stack, 55gr hornady BTHP, but shoots minute of grapefruit with a the their 75gr loading. So wanting some 69gr to try as well as 77gr just to see. It is an amusing toy to entertain me when times are slow at the moment.
Shot the quarter minute of angle targets today that was posted by Molon on the tech forum.

It grouped pretty well.

Been awhile since shooting precision rifle, got to get back into the groove.
I wouldn’t run XM193 in any “nice” gun. That crap is too hot and uses less than ideal (for precision) ball powder.
I use the XM193 in my other upper but used it on my current precision build only for break in purposes cause of the price and the amount used.
Followed Lija’s procedure using 40 rounds total.
Then went to the Winchester match ammo.
I actually had some pretty good five shot groups with the XM193 and then there were some fliers, you could tell from the sound and recoil that some were hotter than others.
Going to give the barrel another good cleaning and more borescope inspection.
Never had a Lija barrel before and this thing has a very smooth bore.
Will shoot some more match ammo during the time I gather components to roll my own.
