Cool, thank you

A new option that looks very promising. Shaped similar to the old King’s safety and the cast Wilson safety. I am pretty excited and cannot wait to try one of these new safeties out:

From novak’s website:

                      Novak® 1911 Extended Thumb Safety*

The Novak® Extended Thumb Safety is made from bar stock steel, fully machined, and heat treated to proper specification. Styled to enhance user comfort and control, the safety is also carry beveled to remove all sharp edges. Designed to work with well with high frames reliefs to minimize fitting and overhanging. A newly designed detent helps to hold the safety lock plunger inward toward the frame to help prevent plunger tube housings from working loose and allowing for greater positive engagement that can be tuned to user preference. Great for use with concealed carry. Installation instructions included.

They look nice, but I do not like how they say “Novak” across them.

I can’t speak for Novak, and this is pure speculation, but I bet it is done with a nod toward swenson who did the same thing.

From a mechanical standpoint I was pretty impressed looking at Wilson’s new bullet-proof unit. I like that the right side is not held captive by the grips. The thing that really struck me though was instead of having the shafts form up in the middle each one actually runs the width of the frame and attaches to it’s opposite.

Does anybody have some hard use on one of these yet? I’m of the firm belief that a defensive weapon ought to be operable with both hands. And I would be interested in getting one of these on my Axiom if they are worth it.

Ek

I have a Wilson and I love it. Never heard a bad thing about Ed Brown 1911’s either though.
