Looking at the new US SIG 556A1 that takes Swiss magazines (and uses a 556R) lower and remembering that the 550 series is essentially an AK including AK threads at the muzzle I got to wondering.
Will a Swiss SIG take a .223 AK magazine? Would be a very cost effective magazine option if so.
No. I have tried Bulgarian Circle-10 5.56x45mm mags and they are too wide to fit in the mag well. It certainly seems feasible to modify the lower to accept AK mags. Would be interesting.
Ok thanks. I don’t think it would be worth the effort to mess with a Swiss SIG lower given how much they cost.
