I want to put a scope on my SA58 Para, but Ive read else where not the accuracy is not good at 400m?? is this true is so should I just put an aimpoint on it?
I’d go w/ a 4X ACOG on a see-through mount for Iron Sights.

For the Para, I would go with a 1.5-4x scope. I think we all wish we had the money for a good ol ACOG.
My biggest advice would be, is to not let the some guys on a forum tell you what to believe. Yea, with that short of a barrel, they might not be tack drivers at 300-400m, but your skills might prove otherwise. I’ve seen guys do pretty amazing things that the “general public” would say can’t be done. Test it out. At least YOU will know what YOU are able to do with your weapon. It’s all about finding your failure point. Are there better rifles for the job at that range? Absolutely! Is it worth giving it a shot to see what you are able to accomplish? Oh ya!

This is exactly why I am asking this question, people claiming the fal accuracy isn’t that good at 300m +, I am an excellent marksmen. I wanted to go with a scope… but I am seeing a lot of redot’s in the picture threads I check on various online forums.
There is no point in spending the money on a 7.62x51mm/.308 just to attempt to run it like a carbine. Maybe if you had unlimited funds and like increased recoil and slower times over a 5.56/7.62x39/5.45mm but what’s the point?
Having a variable power scope allows you to take advantage of the power of the round.

Especially if you like to run/gun a lot - shooting that $$$$ ammo will make you cry.
I remember sometime in the 2006 timeframe shooting with a friend who had a DSA Para with the DSA Para mount for a scope. We experienced vertical stringing at 100 yards to the tune of 8"-10".
This may be a single event, but it did make me wonder.
I am wondering if anyone has a mounting solution for the Para FAL that maintains zero after the action is opened for cleaning.
The Para is different than the fixed stock FAL in that the Para recoil spring does not go into the stock so that mounting solutions that might work for the fixed stock would not work on the Para.
Also, because of the design differences with the Para and the fixed stock, you need to take off the Para’s top cover if you want to do any more than run a boresnake through it.
