Having become interested in the S&W Shield malfunction thread, I decided to research the issue on the Smith and Wesson forum. Yes, the same issues are reported there. I soon became sidetracked by heated arguments between posters who had problems and those who didn’t.
Some guys who had fired their trusty Shields 100 times and had zero malfunctions became upset when some other guys wrote about their Shields which still didn’t work after being shipped back to Smith 2-3 times. When I read one comment stating that nothing is perfect unless it’s made by God, I remembered the man at Glock Talk who expressed that getting brass to the face is ok…Glocks are great.
Anyway, over there the Shield thread degenerated and was closed. Our moderators would have corrected the flow of faulty logic and kept the discussion focused on technical issues. Also, I like to think that our members really are a notch above the rest. I was amused when one guy accused another of being a blowhard because he had a high post count. Once I participated on a Kel-Tec forum but didn’t last because drinking the Kool Aid was a requirement.
What fun one could have by trolling on some of the above and presenting a single thread that includes gays and Frog Lube.
You haven’t truly experienced an internet gun forum until you have somebody seriously trying to explain why his US made clone is actually vastly superior to a factory HK MP5.
Here and less than a handful of other forums do I spend any amount of time actually reading anymore. I have tried to explain why brand X is superior and worth the extra $100 than brand Y, and by the way avoid brand Z like the plague because track record makes shit look good. Most are still going with the cheapest POS because it looks the same or because someone else will tell them that it is just as good. Even if you win the argument and beat sense into the senseless the topic with rise again within the week and it gets tiring fighting the same battles again and again. Hell, most forums I have found are little more than show and tell with guns and ammo. Only thing they are good for in my experience is to sell used gear, sometimes finding local gun shops, but even then what local consider good prices are often beat by venders we have here like G&R.
Hell, I have been told on other forums that a cheap NC star reddot is better than my Acog because it has multiple reticule colors , that VC snipers were much superior to our snipers in Vietnam because they used AK 47s to make confirmed kills out to 1,500 meters on a regular basis (Can the round even go that far?), and that plastic AR lowers are mil spec and stronger than their actual mil spec part . And there is more.
100 rounds and good to go is quite common, I remember being on another forum where it was common to hear, “Glocks are GTG out of the box, buy it, load it , and carry without concern, they are accurate and eat everything.” Any other brand, and I do mean, any other brand, “You need to run 500 rounds of your choice of duty loads without malfunction before you can trust it.”
Anyway, that is my two cents. Though I will say this, at Doc Glockster, This site has not saved a cent, if anything it has cost me thousands of dollars, lol. Will say it has likely saved a good number of headaches though.
On a local gun forum through facebook, I got into it with a couple guys when I questioned why this guy dumped money into a Kel-tec RFB. The guy put a magpul forend, a vortex sparc optic, and an extended rail across the bottom with a cheap white light. It was the most tactical piece of tupperware I have ever seen. So I asked why he did all of that, and all of his homeys came out of the wood work talking trash. I tried to be as nice as possible, especially when some guy said “Cuz it’s ****in’ sick, that’s why! Cuz he can!” I ended it by saying that I’m glad to see this forum is inhabited by a bunch of mall-ninja’s, and if they want to learn something about quality, and non-quality POS guns, to jump on over to M4carbine.net and get an edumacation. There has been no other place in my life that I have learned so much about the in’s and out’s of firearms, and that not every rifle is created equal.
You should try posting a Glock question on the “Non-XD Pistols” forum on XD Talk!
It brings out the usual Glock bashers with zero substance in their posts. The usual “I don’t care for the Glock’s grip angle” nonsense and the 40 k-boom issue…the usual nonsense.
Post a question on SIGs or HKs or maybe your prized Hi-Power and there are no bashers and crazies but ask a Glock question and the morons and moonbats come out for a bash session. You can set your watch to it and they always make the same silly remarks. They think they are being SOOO clever…but they are annoying to someone just looking for information sans a running personal commentary.
I guess on that particular forum, a Glock is not welcome in the “Non-XD Pistols” forum. Whodathunkit?
Oh man, do you have a link to that by any chance? The resident idiot at work keeps talking about doing an amateur Dremel carry bevel/bobtail job to his shitty 1911 and I’d love to show him someone else’s Dremel skills to maybe dissuade him.
Got to love the last comment before that thread was locked up.

Damn straight- although for some reason I still can’t seem to find those thousands of dollars I’ve saved…
You’ve got to be kidding me… And I thought I’d seen it all after that guy here tried to move his gas port to get a middy out of a carbine rifle.
Hope for humanity- Zero.
As rule, I tend to stick to one forum that’s focused on a particular topic of interest for me, and M4C covers guns and related as well as I could ask for, with highly knowledgeable mods and members and minimal BS, trolling, or drama compared to others.
When I find a forum that fits my needs/recs, similar to how I approach guns, I don’ feel a need to float around much.
LF has some solid info also, but is not a gun forum per se.
