Why not a piston AR?

No, I’m in MN/WI.

I understand what you are saying. I also like that the heat is out front away from my hands (just personal preference).

DI vs Piston has no influnece on my care of a weapon- I clean them all either way everytime after a range trip. Maybe this is a dicey statement, but I would guess I can clean the operating rod and my reciver faster that the average joe can clean all the parts in their reciever. On the M&P, its litterally twist and pull the rod out, give it a quick wipe and put it back in. None of the parts in my reciever (other than right around the chamber) have ever been dirty when I cleaned the rifle. I wipe them off anyway because I’m anal and its a new gun so I want to get some lube worked into it, but they didn’t “need” to be cleaned. No que tip action called for though. With the disclaimer that I’ve never cleaned a DI gun, I’d argue that the parts that get dirty on MY piston gun (can’t speak for designs other than the one I own) are easier to clean than the ones that get dirt on a DI.

Again, trying to be a humble newb. Its just my understanding that not many around here have gotten their hands on the new PS S&W’s.
