Why does the DHS need 2700 MRAPs?

DHS just purchased 2700 MRAPs outfitted for street use, Why in gods green earth would they need such vehicles on American soil, it’s not like we are gonna get invaded by the Chinese, North Koreans or Iran.

Wait for it. Here somebody comes trying to justify such a thing because of “street gangs” and crap like that. Last I knew street gangs weren’t rigging IED’s.

Fact is, there is no good reason for it aside from the obvious being that they are and have been gearing up for civil unrest for the past who knows how long. There’s numerous political figures who have confirmed this but I guess that’s just a “tinfoil hat conspiracy theory” or something. :lol:

Because they can. Might as well spend like no tomorrow, especially if more spending cuts are coming down the pike, which there probably are. When the welfare checks stop, well, you know the rest.

They need these vehicles for the same reason they need BILLIONS of rounds of ammo.

I was giving DHS the benefit of the doubt about the billions in rounds in ammo purchases.

But after this, I am now convinced they are in fact gearing up against us. There is no way they need that many MRAPs unless they are going to use them on the boarder.

I’m simply re-quoting what another senior board member replied to me with regarding a post of mine when I brought up the billions and billions of rounds of ammo the DHS “needs”.

He told me to put away the tin foil hat.

Do/would they even use hollow points for training purposes? Perhaps somebody has the answer to this…

Civil unrest? Uparmored Humvees would be plenty for “civil unrest.”

I’ve seen personnel from the DHS umbrella using hollow points/duty ammo in high round count classes.

Right on. My first thought would be that hollow point is clearly not training ammo. That being said, I can understand that they may want to train with the ammo they carry on duty for the obvious reasons.

I’m not saying that they would not be enough. It’s definitely weird and more evidence that they are gearing up for potential civil unrest, civil war, revolution – who knows what. The only thing we can be sure about is that it’s not for our protection or even in our best interest.

The only reason we don’t train with “carry” ammo is cost. But the taxpayer is an unlimited VISA card, so they don’t have that problem :slight_smile:

Back on topic, is there a source for this other than an alarmist blog citing a tinfoil hat blog?
