Why are people so crazy over OD Green Glock?

$900 isn’t exactly representative of the price of OD Glocks…

Cuz they’re awesome:

If it sells…

I am sitting on a pair of NIB OD G19s. I just put them up on a shelf for spares.

My OD G20 10mm is one that I really have considered moving.

As badass as it is, I never shoot it. It sits in the safe only to be fondled every now and then.

I need to consolidate calibers anyways.

It may be a good time to sniff around Glocktalk and see what a realistic price is.

The funniest part is Glock discontinued them because they weren’t selling as well.

I remember watching a Shot Show 2011 video where a Glock rep. mentioned if there was enough demand they would bring them back. Don’t remember who posted the video though…

LOL! Yeah, I remember those days. I had a similar experience myself. A local dealer was going out of business and selling everything at a discount. All the black GLOCKs were long gone. However, they had plenty of green ones! This was in 2004-ish if my memory serves me well.

If they come out with the tan/fde/whatever, like my distributor said they were, I may buy a couple for times like this…

I sure hope my fish-gilled G17RTF will be worth a bajillion dollars one day too!! For some reason I can’t stop shooting the hell out of it though. Hope the future “glock collectors” won’t mind!!

I just wonder if the people selling these items think that this is a realistic price. Are they idots, or do they hope that an idot with lots of money to burn will buy it at that price? I think Im going to offer the guy 400 and see what happens.

Human nature…

Turning back the clock a little bit.

Many here may not remember this or were simply not involved in the handgunnning scene at the time.

Gunsmiths used to offer a standard service of converting S&W N frames from square butt to round butt.

At the time all N frames (such as a Model 29 .44 magnum) were square butt.

People bitched about the squared butts and wanted them rounded.

Example:

M29 w/ square butt

same gun not frozen and bloody.

Showing the difference:

The left two 5" 44 mags are round butted.
The top one is wearing round to square conversion grips from Eagle.
The bottom gun is wearing grips from the factory.
The one on the right is a square butt that was custom chopped to 5"s.

Pretty soon S&W listened and started making the guns round butt. With nothing more than a converted grip, a person could have a round butted gun that felt exactly like a square butted one.

Example of a round butted gun (stainless .44 mag)wearing “round to square” Herretts stocks, and the factory square butted(blued 44 mag) from above(also wearing Herretts). To the shooter, until you pull the stocks off, they are exactly the same:

That way the consumer should be happy, being able to have any configuration they want this way right?

Wrong.

People started bitching because there were no more short barreled square butted N frames anymore.

Like I said, human nature.

I guess it is all about what you can’t have.

it probably would just take a few drums of OD green plastic and they’d be molding them again…

i just got mine in OD cause everybody has a black glock. thought i’d be different. she’s treated me well.

Let’s put the Glock 19 od for 900 in the same box as let’s say a 30 round pmag for 50 dollars? AHAHHA I mean EVERYONE remembers that big mess. :sarcastic:
