Hi guys,
Recently there was a thread posted about one of our rifles, specifically the Tac Evo 14.5". There were some replies, and then the thread was closed by the Mods, fair enough. I found the thread probably just a couple of hours after the last post, to late to post a reply however so I thought I would post here. Here is the thread:

In some of the posts the questions were why should I buy this, who the hell is Huldra Arms, it’s just a parts gun, it’s unproven, etc etc.
Well I wanted the chance to reply to those comments so here it is
Huldra arms is a new player in the industry, we had our rifles on the shelves in summer of 2011. We have partnered with Adams Arms to be our manufacturing partner. The manufacture our lowers and we use their piston specific upper receivers, meaning there is no bushing, the drive rod (gas tube) hole is drilled specifically for the rod, not a gas tube. Also we do use the Adams Arms piston system, it is a pinned block to the barrel, not bolted on like a “parts kit.”. The carrier is Adams Arms one piece stainless carrier, finished in melonite, and has a carbine extractor insert inside of the spring and an o-ring. Our barrels our top quality blanks either 4150 with melonite finish or stainless. We then selected some of the best components and parts to finish our build, VLTOR, Ergo grips, Samson Rails, etc.
So if that is a “parts gun” then call I guess you can call it what you like. We contract Adams to the manufacturing of major components, piston parts, and finishing the barrel work. Many other manufacturers contract with others as well, in fact there are only so many places to get forgings from we happen to have a great, direct partnership with our Manufcaturer Adams Arms. Now obviously we don’t make the furniture, and in some of our models we use the JP EZ trigger, so those are “parts” we choose to use in our builds as they are high end products.
I knew our reception on this forum wouldn’t be the best. I can respect the experience and opinions of several members here, I was a member long before I became involved with the Huldra Project and know that you guys like the big names and like DI. I get that and respect that. I also know our initial approach wasn’t well received on here. However, for the forum of “where the professionals go” we have had our hurdles.
So to answer some of the questions of our rifles being unproven, we are sending them to as many carbine classes as we can, sending and using them in the national and local competition arenas, and continuing to run them everywhere else we can. We also did a test where we ran a rifle with no lube for over 4800 rounds, with no cleaning and no librication before it had stoppages. I know that a dirty, lubed gun will run, Ive read all of the articles and been to alot of industry events training, etc. This gun ran for almost 5000 rounds with no lubrication and cleaning, that was impressive to me. I’m sure the impression is that we just came into the market want to sell ARs like everyone else. The reality is we are no stranger to ARs and no stranger to the firearms industry or market. More on that below about our stores which have some of the highest firearms and ammunition sales in our areas out of everyone in the business. I have been involved with ARs since the 90’s when I competed in service rifle matches and started my first build. I remember the times when some of the current popular manufactures didn’t exist and the some wouldn’t cater to the private market. The market has changed, the industry has changed and that’s what it is. Some have said in the past they would be surprised if we made it 6 months, we’ve done that and we don’t plan on going anywhere.
We don’t have any military contracts and aren’t planning on any. So aside from doing the above I would be very receptive to other ideas on how we can proove our rifles. I know some of you reading this will never buy our rifles as you are committed to your brands. Fine, that’s your choice. We are proud of our rifles, we have a strong product, and most importantly we stand behind it and have some of the best customer service in the industry.
For those not familiar with us, our mother company is Mills Fleet Farm. I large chain of supply and sporting goods stores in the Midwest. If you ask anyone in the upper Midwest about us, they will know Mills Fleet Farm and tell you they are one of the coolest stores and greatest folks in the business. It’s true, we trully have great customer loyalty but that doesn’t come easy, we work hard to earn their satisfaction. The Huldra Arms brand, while related and connected to Fleet Farm, is its own entity within the business. The same goals of customer satisfaction is the core of us, from the sale, to support, we take care of our customers.
So the other questions why should I buy this? Ultimately that will be up to you. We offer compete rifles and uppers made from top quality components. Just like major players in the industry we use top quality forged receivers, CrMov 4150 or stainless barrels with a 1:7 twist and m4 feed ramps, the Adams Arms piston system, and then use too quality partner’s products for the rest, again VLTOR stocks, Ergo grips, JP triggers, Samson STAR or Evo rails.
On top of all that, when you call us, we answer the phone, if we miss your call you will get a call back 99% of the time within a couple of hours or minutes. When you email us, we get back to you promptly. You’ll probably end up talking with me, I’m the husky guy in the videos and the only one named Dave so I m pretty easy to recognize ![]()
If we can answer any questions, I would love to. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thanks, Dave
