Who makes a good offset light mount

for a 1" SureFire that pulls the light in tight to the rail at the 10:30 (i.e. pretty much the opposite of the Daniel Defense offset mount)? I have this shitty plastic Israeli mount that positions the light pretty much where I want it on my MRP, but it’s a shitty plastic Israeli mount.

vltor, gear sector for non-plastic mounts.

Here’s some I like.

The gear sector stuff is first class.

If you mount the Daniel Defense upside down it will put the light at 10:30. The logo will be upside down but hopefully that’s not an issue.

Or are you saying the DD mount positions the light too far outboard?

Yep, and too many parts/pieces/sharp edges for my taste. I hadn’t seen the Gear Sector mounts before - I think that’ll be the one I need.

That’s a good point. After studying the pictures it seems the GS mount tucks the light in closest.

For what it’s worth I’ve been using a Vltor offset mount for quite a while now and its geometry has never bugged me. The Gear Selector mount looks slicker though

If I wasn’t running my X300 in the 12 o’clock position, I would run a GearSector mount with a E-series Surefire light.

My feelings and experiences lead me to recommend the same.

Check this out as well.

You’ll like the Gear Sector mount. I got one to work with a Quark 123 Tactical, and it makes for a nice tight little package.

I’d take a hard look at the Danger Close Consulting mount. It’s pretty slick, and I’m running them on both my SBR and my ACR right now.

I agree that the Gear Sector mount is top quality, well-designed, and attractive. If Jason had a quick-detach version, I’d be thrilled.

That’s the same set up I want to go with, what size mount are you using?

The Vltor offset mount with the QD lock is, IMHO, the best light mount on the market. It holds lights tight to the rail. It’s very low profile. It offers an attachment method that is very secure yet allows it to be repositioned or removed without tools. The last part may not seem important, but the secure attachment part is way more important than the easily removable part.

I have comparison pics showing a VTAC to a Vltor offset (non QD, but still) here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showpost.php?p=423188&postcount=91

yup, about to order Vltor offset mount myself too.

I run VTAC’s on all but one of my AR’s (7 guns). I really like them. They are quite light though seemingly quite durable.

I have a VLTOR offset mount on mine, thumb screw type.

I like that it is metal and that I do not need tools if I need to do anything with it.

If I was going with a non-throwlever offset mount I’d use the Gear Sector. I have pictures of two of their other devices here and I need to add the light mount to the review, but you can see how they mount up etc. from this.

I have a Vltor non-throwlever offset mount on my AK, and for a fixed I prefer the Gear Sector now, but for most things I do prefer to have a lever and would take the Vltor version of the same mount.
