Who are the main manufacturers out there

Just looking for info on who the main manufacturers are out there. I am about to buy a stripped lower super cheap. The company that has them made says it is actually manufactured from the same company that manufactures BM lowers…essentially saying it is a BM with different markings.

Who manufactures who’s stuff our there? Who should one look out for, good and bad?

Thanks

This is some information I have copied from another forum:

Tier One: manufacturers with US government contracts for their rifles…

Colt
LMT
FNH

Tier Two: manufacturers who do not have a US government contract for their files, but are in strict accordance with the TDP nonetheless…

Sabre Defence
BCM

Tier Three: QC varies but the common denominator is that they generally don’t follow the TDP 100%; essentially, everyone else…

CMMG
RRA
Armalite
Bushmaster
DPMS, etc…

Where they come from;

LMT = LMT, Lauer, DS Arms, PWA, Eagle, Knights Armament, Barrett
CMT = Stag, RRA, High Standard, Noveske, (new) Century, Global Tactical, CLE, S&W, MGI, Wilson Tactical, Grenadier Precision, Colt
LAR = LAR, Bushmaster, Ameetech, DPMS, CMMG, Double Star, Fulton
JVP = Double Star, LRB
MMS = Mega, GSE, Dalphon, POF, Alexander Arms,
Olympic = Olympic, SGW, Tromix, Palmetto, Dalphon, Frankford, (old) Century
Sun Devil = Sun Devil forged billet receivers
Superior = Superior Arms

Exactly what I am looking for…Thanks

Tier One lowers are what you want, although BCM is not necessarily considered Tier One because they don’t sell to the military their quality is on pare with the Tier One lowers. Also, not listed as a Tier One, but he has built and provided guns to certain military units is Noveske Rifleworks. Noveske would be my choice.

Another option not listed is POF. Their new billet machined lower with a Timney trigger is definitely worth considering.

I didn’t read your original question close enough. Sorry.

Read Arcane’s post thoroughly. What he is saying is

LMT produces lowers for: LMT, Lauer, DS Arms, PWA, Eagle, Knights Armament, Barrett

CMT produces lowers for: Stag, RRA, High Standard, Noveske, (new) Century, Global Tactical, CLE, S&W, MGI, Wilson Tactical, Grenadier Precision, Colt

LAR produces lowers for: LAR, Bushmaster, Ameetech, DPMS, CMMG, Double Star, Fulton

Basically the lower you are purchasing should be LAR, if it is not they I doubt they manufacture for BM, but could be wrong.

That all said I refer you back to my orginal post about who’d I’d purchase from. Keep in mind “Buy Cheap, Buy Twice” and that “Trying to save a dime, you’ll spend a dollar every time.” In the end it is your money, your life, and your decision.

Well the company is GSE - Gunsmoke Enterprises. Let me pose this question first. How important is the lower receiver…completely stripped…Does it matter who makes this? My thought is that as long as the milling is to “Mil.Spec.” (measurement tolerances) then it doesn’t matter who makes it. Right? The parts to make quality decisions on are the “working” pieces (ie: upper assembly/BCG/BE/Barrel) What is your take on that?

GSE claims and quoted “They are made by the same Co. that makes Bushmaster lowers” and “We manufacture the highest quality upper and lower receivers on the market today and they match or exceed military specifications.”

And I’m not thinking about purchasing it because of their “torture” test video.

Thoughts?

Besides proper pinhole placement, the two things I would worry about are the finish and the magwell dimensions.

The finish is definately not Mil.Spec as they put a teflon coating on all of their product. ??? This is what they mean by surpass Mil.Spec. I guess. If the lower is what they say, then it should fit with a Bushy upper at the least.

I have no proof (yet) but I believe that the S&W M&P15PC rifle has it’s upper and lower receivers manufactured buy Sun Devil. The carrier is something other than a CMT as well, it looks like a Young Mfg carrier.

Hmmm could be. I do know they get their barrels. :smiley:

hate to drag this thread back up, but its informative and my question refers to this topic. i read somewhere that armalite was under contract by the DEA is that true? i’m back at square one cuz i cant find any LE6920’s that dont have like 100 ppl on the waiting list.

Have you looked at Sabre Defence? They make fantastic stuff and I have some uppers specd out that are a clone of what you would find on a 6920.
