Whitch AK to Keep?

I need to fund a XCR 6.8 purchase. That means I have to sell one of my AKs. I have a very nice Krebs KTR-03S that has every bell and whistle on it. It is built on a stamped Saiga. I also have a very nice (more traditional) Milled Arsenal that I have lightly modified (ACE folder, Ultimak gas mount, couple of other minor mods). Both guns are nice, reliable, and in like new condition. I am not married to either one. Which one should I hold onto and why? What price should I ask for each one in the condition I described? I am leaning towards dumping the Krebs just because it looks so flashy, I know I can sell it quick. I got into both rifles at the right price. Thus, I won’t lose money on either one.

My vote goes to the Krebs: Sell it.

Sell the Krebs if it is the one you are the least attached to. I would never sell any of my AK’s unless circumstances (financial) would force me to.
In a SHTF situation, I am grabbing an AK before anything else.
I hope the XCR is everything you are hoping it is. Good luck.

O

Keep the Krebs!!! They will never produce the KTR-03’s again. It is truly the ultimate expression of the AK in my opinion. I think the “updated” KTR-08 is a weak follow-up to the '03. You could always replicate the milled Arsenal down the road if you decide you want another. I doubt you will find anyone who is willing to sell their KTR-03… atleast not for an even remotely resonable price.

I would not sell a real proven AK (Arsenal) to fund a new and not proven XCR.

I was thinking the same thing.

I am so with you two guys on this…!! Keep both AKs and save for quality AR if you want something different. XCR gets a downselect in my book.

Good thing I’m not you. I’ll see if I can’t ring out the XCR and prove if it is worthwhile or not.

I’d sell the Krebs.

But I’d replace it with a Arsenal SGL31.

I agree.

Assuming they both function reliably and are reasonably accurate, I would agree with the advice given above and NOT sell either AK. The AK’s have better parts availability and a superior track record compared to the XCR. If you want a 6.8 mm, and assuming you already have an AR15 lower, just get yourself a good AR15 upper in 6.8 mm and be done with it.

Look at past history - 1989 and 1994 come to mind.

I wouldn’t sell either AK.

I would keep the Krebs 03 as it is one of, if not the best, AKs on the market. I own a XCR-L in 6.8 and highly recommend it. One thing about owning a 6.8 is that you had best consider reloading. If you haven’t fired the XCR you are missing a treat. I have had ARs go down on me at the most inoppertune time. My XCR has yet to fail.

Decided to sell both. With the money I make, I am going to buy my Robinson and couple of Saigas in 7.62x39 and 5.45x39. I’ll send both of the Saigas to Fuller for identical builds. What I am getting for the two AKs is paying for the bulk of all three new rifles.

You won’t be sorry about the Saigas.

Don’t gussy up a milled AK. Sell it to a kalashnisnob who will return it to its original greatness!

Brick;)

I wouldn’t sell either AK to fund a Krebs, let alone one in 6.8.

KTR-03S is one of the best AK’s ever made, period.

As long as both AKs function well and shoot well, I wouldn’t sell either. Unless you want to replace one AK for another AK, or a top tier AR. I used to own a XCR, and it was an okay rifle, but I prefered my Colt 6920.

I wouldn’t sell either if I was you, but especially not the Krebs… The 03s will never be built again

I have BOTH the Krebs 03 and an XCR in 6.8. That said, KEEP the 03 Krebs and DO BUY the XCR in 6.8 SPC. Like the guy said “The Krebs 03 isn’t made anymore and can’t be replaced.” As far as the XCR goes it BEATS HELL out of the direct gas ARs. Direct gas ARs are finicy and a pain in the ass. My XCR has yet to not work. An also plus, is the fact that caliber change is easy. :D:D:D The ONLY problem with the XCR was the trigger and that has been fixed. IF you do buy an older model just send it off to Bill Springfield for a $49 trigger job.
