Which Upper to go with

I am looking at a LMT 16" M4 Carbine Upper Receiver Group
or a complete Spike’s Tactical 16" M4 LE upper.

I am planning to add the DD Lite Rail to which ever one I get and if I go with the LMT I will add the BCM bolt carrier group.

What would you guys do?

LMT is more respected on this website. they adhere to a higher standard, and always have… spikes has been trying to get to that standard, and they may be there now- i don’t know.

Why not a BCM, Colt, DD, or Noveske upper?

Both are good uppers. I would rather have the lmt but spikes is good as well. look into what ak44 suggested as well…

I agree. Esp since BCM offers theirs with the rail you want already installed.

If I may ask… Why an M4 upper? Unless you have any use for that notch, youre better off with a midlength.

I would buy the LMT from your choices. I would give BCM a hard look too. I am very happy with my LMT guns and uppers.

LMT from your given choices, without a doubt. BCM and DD certainly offer excellent choices in that general price range, too. Hard to beat the $389 BCM mid length upper… excellent price point.

The Daniel Defense upper deal from smartgunner is something to take a look at. You can configure a top notch upper exactly the way you want it.

LMT is what I would choose from your two options…but as suggested in post above check out BCM, Noveske, Centurian arms,DD etc

Alright a Socratic question. Comparing the two what makes the LMT more desirable compared to the Spikes? After all LMT did switch to the MIM gas keys on their gas keys. What makes them better than Spikes?

LMT has earned an excellent reputation. Their guns and uppers run. Their quality control and customer service is excellent. That is why folks are recommending LMT. Someone mentioned Spikes is building a better reputation and that is great. LMT and others already have an excellent reputation for quality & reliability. I know how my LMT guns run and trust them with my life. Ask folks who own LMT guns and uppers.
