I need a 16" M4 upper. Given the climate of things, one is almost compelled to say buy whatever you can.
My first choice is the Bravo Company offering. Second choice is the LMT. If I go to LMT I might be able to get it outright or at least backorder it. I don’t have that option with BCM.
So the question, "Is one head and shoulders above the other?
Noveske Basic upper as you get John’s incredible M249 steel/double chrome lined barrel. Some claim stainless like accuracy out of a chrome lined barrel and it’s a Noveske (lifetime warranty, NO BS). The complete upper (with BCG & CH) (assuming you can order one) will run you $950, but that includes a rear Troy BUIS (worth $125 alone).
The BCM/LMT should run you about $500 incl. shipping incl. M4 hand guards. Add an LMT or BCM BCG and you add $130ish, plus a decent charging handle add $20-90 (for PRI Gas Buster is my pref here)…add a rear BUIS and you are up to $775-$850
Apples to Apples, Noveske has got my money for an extra $100 net:net
I’m trying to finish my gun. I, like everyone else, want to get mine built before the coronation. I need a complete upper. My preference is for a BCM or LMT M4; chrome lined, 1/7 twist, Mil-spec . . . . yada, yada. To buy an LMT direct they told me I’m looking at 16-20 weeks to fill the order. BCM says they MAY have something by the end of the year.

Still hoping to put a batch of 16’ Mid online during Dec. It is looking more difficult.
There is a massive shortage of small parts that are slowing up production.
(11.5" Feb or March 2009?)
(ETA on 14.5" is Q3 2009)
(ETA on 20" govt is Q3 2009)
So my options as I see it:
Hope and pray I can be at the right place at the right time when BCM gets some.
Go ahead and order from LMT and wait for the delivery.
Try to buy an upper somewhere and get parts and build as I can.
Try something I haven’t thought of (that’s where you come in.)
most likely the only way to get an LMT is gunbroker and I’ve seen two go for just under $700 recently, bare bones IIRC, an option, expensive one at that. best bet is get something custom from Grant, if he has anything in stock.
