I’m looking to start another build (1 noveske nearly complete:dance3:). I’m trying to decide between a Daniel Defense upper/lower stripped combo or the Wilson Combat upper/lower stripped combo.
Does anyone have hands on with either of these, if so any suggestions as to which is a better platform and why? I want this to be a SPR type build…Thanks
Wilson Upper - Upper Receiver - Our M4 Mil-Spec, flat-top upper receivers are precision CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings for maximum durability and Mil-Spec Type 3 hard coat anodized in black.
DD - The A4 Upper Receiver is precisely machined from a 7075 aluminum forging and is Type III Hard Coat anodized. The A4 uppers have Feed Ramps cut in them for more reliable feeding.
There will not be a platform difference.
Which roll-mark do you prefer? Which company do you feel like supporting? Personally, I’d go DD every time; I have a feeling you will receive similar responses.
same price, pick which one is cosmetically more pleasing…both good and probably the same.
If it were my $$$, I’d consider for a more robust set-up than std. forged for an SPR (if weight is not an issue), such as:
[ul]
[li]LaRue w/ M4 cuts / LaRue lower[/li][li]VLTOR MUR or VIS mono / Mega billet lower[/li][li]Mega Mono upper/ Mega Billet combo[/li][/ul]
Ohhhh forgot to mention, I’m building a billet platform as well. Mega vs LaRue listed in your picture also hahaha. Not crazy about LaRue’s rollmarks but in the end, not that important. I’ve bought and sold S&W and Bushmaster to work my way up to Mil-Spec higher end parts and I’m like an addict now!
I’ve seen the DD with a personal camera and I really like the finish, but I can’t seem to find a WC pic that isn’t the same stock pic that’s on the website. TOO MANY DECISIONS:suicide2:
I guess I should of been more clear, I’ve been reading about rifling processes and from what people have told me, centurion arms would be a HUGE upgrade. I’d love to hear an actual owners opinion though
For our forum we went with Quentin Defense. We did a group buy and got custom engraving for the lower, along with laser engraving if you wanted it. Jason just did a run of laser engraved uppers for us also.
For a precision (SPR) build I’d go with Centurion or Kreiger. But I wouldn’t scoff at a DD barrel for any reason. They make excellent kit. I’d love a DDM4 as a beater rifle. Bone stock DDM4 and a stock G17 would be an excellent K.I.S.S. kit.
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with DD bbls or the CHF processes IMO.
I don’t know why, but it seems like ever since BCM started offering CHF bbls, and people started asking about them, they have gotten a bad interwebz reputation…completely underserved.
