Which Rifles?

Okay,

I have a problem here my dad is buying me and himself an AR-15 before the next election So I have done tons of research but it seems that every forum I visit I get new answers. He wants to spends about $1,000 give or take. So What two rifles should I recommend to him.

I hear Bushmaster/RRA/STAG is good, then I hear they are not good, I just am so confused about the whole thing. I know I want something accurate, I really don’t care much about anything else, Its not like im going to be running through the jungle or desert, but I would like a little but of reliability.

I would like the one im getting suitable for Varminting, but I would also like it to have Iron sights for close range use. (if possible if not, no big deal)

I
So if you had roughly about $2,000 +/- to spend on 2 AR’s what would they be?

well ive got a bushmaster and love it… alot of people knock them just because its not a colt or a lewis machine and tool or whatever… sure those other brands may have a few more gadgets and features or testing done but in my opinion you cant go wrong with a bushmaster… Its a superb gun… never had any problems with it VERY accurate and the fact that they manufacture more ARs then any other company says somethin. Now im sure a bunch of AR “elitists” will get on here and say im an idot or whatever but bushmaster is great. They run around 1000… Im fixing to build a new AR and am planning on using a LMT for my upper and Anvil Arms for my lower… itll run around a thousand or so… anyways best of luck and let us know what you decide to go for.

For your varminting needs I would say…

Just an example of whats out there. I have a RRA entry tactical and its been a good gun for the money.

Good luck and happy hunting.

My personal favorites are by Rock River, then Armalite a close second, then the 3 main others listed above…
Colt is nice, but it’s just a name; great for resale.

E!

** Again Feller’s… IMHO…!**

You have displayed tremendous courage here.

I agree that Bushmaster is a great gun for the money if you are looking for a varmint rifle or one that won’t be subjected to extremes. Not that it can’t necessarily handle “extremes”, but the others (Colt, LMT, see chart…) are more likely to function under the most heavy fire stress.

2 Ar a2 about 1K each, I’d look at:

  1. LMT (buy lower, buy upper then put the two halvs together).
  2. Charles Daily
  3. ADS (from Grant)
  4. S&W
  5. Bushmaster (from Grant)

This is pretty much it in a nutshell.

  1. LMT complete lower with standard M4 collapsible stock = $330
  2. LMT complete upper w/o charge handle, BCG, and handguards = $485 (ask Grant for the M4C.net discount, you’ll be VERY pleasantly surprised)!
  3. BCG $128
  4. Charging handle $19
  5. BCM double heat shield M4 hand guards = $23
  6. Carry handle or BUIS of your choice = $50-$120

Total = +/- $985 - $1,105

You can save even more if you buy the cheap $10 hand guards from cdnninvestments.com if you intend to upgrade them to a rail later anyway.

Just give Grant a call, tell him you want two of the best AR’s you can buy for a $1000 or so each. Tell him you are on M4C.net. He knows what he is doing. He will fix you up.

Every single manufacturer that tries to produce a rifle with the quality, quality control, proper assembly, and features that a Colt comes with winds up charging the same amount as Colt.

to quote Pat Rogers, “this is what call a CLUE”.

I have to admit, I don’t understand statements like this. Basically, you’re suggesting Bushmaster, despite acknowledging that it may not be as good as some of the other options, simply because you have one?

The bottom line is that, while many many Bushmasters can and will run just fine, the majority of their owners will never push them to the point that they would be truly tested, and in the current market there are options available (like the Smith and Wesson M&P and the Charles Daly M-4LE) that offer more features, better quality control, better assembly, etc. all for the same price as a Bushmaster. Why would you buy an inferior product for the same price as a superior product?

Check out the Smith and Wesson M&P15 line of rifles. I would lean towards the M&P15 basic model, but they are also making Varmint types now too (although it may be out of your price range). The basic M&P can generally be found in the $900-$1k range.

Of the $1k carbines available today the S&W is a good bet.

You may also want to look at the new line of rifles by Charles Daly. I do not know what their availability is like yet, but at least one or two members here have picked them up from local dealers so there are certainly some out there. For a basic M4 the model you want is the D-M4LE but they also make a D-V24 Match Target and Varmint. One of the members here picked up a D-M4LE for $1k out the door (including tax etc.). You will still need a rear sight for the Daly though, and the Smith comes with one.
