I’m getting somewhat interested in the HK P30SK but I’m primarily a striker-fired guy, the only semi-auto handgun I’ve fired in literally years that wasn’t a Glock, a Smith&Wesson Shield or a VP9 was a Makarov. I’ve never shot a hammer fired HK so I don’t really what their SA/DA and LEM triggers are like. Of the two trigger systems, which might be better for someone that comes from a background of shooting striker fired pistols almost exclusively? My inclination would be the LEM version, does anyone disagree?
EDIT: or there is the third option, calm down and wait for the VP9SK.
Best advice I can give it to go somewhere where you can try a couple different triggers. While I have spent a lot of time on a striker fired handgun, Glocks mostly, I have personally come to the point that I prefer SA/DA triggers. That said, unless you are being issued it, or being forced to buy it, try them and see what works best for you.
I have the DA/SA version with the de-cocker on the back of the frame. I own L-LEM models in other pistols and they all work just dandy for me. What trigger is a personal taste matter which is why they offer you options.
I would try to rent and shoot one of each and decide based on shooting.
In the past I haven’t had much luck finding places that do gun rentals in my area but I think a shop about 2 1/2 hours north of me does them now. Day trip!
Another potential option…There may be someone local to you who owns an example of both. Ask around if there are any HK guys that frequent your LGS / shooting range, assuming you have one. If you lived near me I’d have no issue meeting you at the range to try a selection of pistols.
The LEM seems like the natural choice for a someone who seems to be comfortable with Glocks, VP9s, etc. It would be the least radical transition. The hammer vs striker thing is one of the most overblown things in the gun world (and thats saying something). Weirdly, the only important difference in my eyes (that hammers are more reliable in igniting primers) seems to be the least interesting to folks.

However, I’ve seen more than a few instances where striker shooters couldn’t deal with the long take-up that is associated with the LEM trigger groups. Triggers in general are over blown, you should be adaptable enough to deal with most anything you might run across.
It depends on you…but I agree with Greg. I own both types…I don’t really notice the difference. I know there are people who say stay with a particular model or operation. But I explain that jumping into wife’s car doesn’t make me sit there for minutes trying to figure out how to drive it.

Oh I agree. But I figure most folks who can’t handle take up are going to look like a monkey standing next to the monolith with a double action. I am with y’all, hell, I personally think people out to spend their first few years with DA/SA so they don’t become crippled by single action triggers (virtual or otherwise).
Something else I’ve been considering is I think I would find having to decock a DA/SA mildly annoying. Back in the distant mists of 2004 when I was 23 years old and carrying a Makarov for want of something better I was pretty used to doing it but I kinda prefer the simplicity the striker fired guns offer. I think maybe I should focus on giving the LEM a try and if I don’t care for it then just sit tight and wait for the distant release of the subcompact VP9 or just go with something else. I really like my VP9, and have been carrying it most of the summer because I was desperate to ditch my G23 and my Shield didn’t work out for one reason or another, but the VP9 is bigger than I’d really like in a carry gun.
I picked up a P30SK-V1 a month or so ago and have fallen in love with the light LEM trigger setup. I’m strongly considering picking up a full size P30 V1 to go along with it.
