I want a LaRue rail which will cover the LaRue low profile gas block on a carbine length gas system. Which rail length do I need? I believe the 9.0 will leave just a smidgen of gas block exposed? Is this correct?
I need to make sure that the handguard will cover a LaRue low profile gas block, because some other makers gas blocks vary in length. mfingar had a great post on the other site, featuring a mock up of 14.5inch carbines with varying LaRue rails. I compared them to my other carbine with a LaRue rail and noticed that Mfingar wasn’t using a LaRue low profile gas block in his Photoshop mock ups. If anyone has any pictures that would be great as well. Thanks!
UPDATE
A LaRue 9.0 combined with a LaRue gas block will fit flush. Below are two pictures, a before and an after:
I would like to use the LaRue low profile. Which gas block would fit under the handguards and not be so long as to protrude from a 9.0 LaRue handguard?
LaRue, VLTOR, Daniel Defense and a ‘shaved’ and shortened FSB.
My 10" LMT will sport a 9" DD Lite Rail in the future. I’m going to ‘shave’ and shorten the FSB. I may even cut the FSB essentially in half making it just long enough to conceal the front end of the gas tube. It’ll look a lot like the one I did here for a friend.
