Which Geissele trigger?

So i’m still working on putting together my first AR and I have a whole bunch of “premium” parts to go into the lower/upper. I was initially content on going with the factory trigger but now I am thinking about spending the extra cash on a nice Geissele trigger.

I see they have several types and for the most part the standard is the SSA. My AR will not be for competition/match use but instead i’m going for a combat/shtf/zombie apocalypse/fighting gun reliability theme.

From what i’ve read, the SSA-E is basically the same as the SSA but with a lighter trigger and not recommended for my purpose. I also see that Geissele has a newer “G2S” which is a budget version of the SSA with small differences such as the way the hammer pin is retained.

Can anyone give me some advice as to which is the best Geissele trigger to go with for my application? And I should NOT run the KNS pins with any Geissele trigger right?

So far it looks like the SSA is the way to go.

Thanks,
Brandon

No kns pins for sure.

SSA, SD-C, or Super Tricon would be my do it all choices.

SSA. Their best all-around option IMO, with still plenty of kick-ass.

How about using the search button. This topic has been discussed in depth here.

I went with VTAC’s Super V version. It’s basically Geissele’s 3Gun trigger with a heavier pull. I would recommend it for your application. It’s single stage and has a very nice, crisp break and reset.

The SSA is a great trigger. I have them in more than one of my ARs. However there is another option which you might like better given your concerns about the lightness of pull and your intended purpose.

Geissele also makes one called the “ALG Combat trigger (ACT)”. It is basically a standard AR trigger, but all cleaned up to eliminate all the creep and “notchiness”. Its got the same pull weight as a standard trigger, but it breaks clean and crisp. It is also a lot cheaper than the SSA.

I like both. In a gun that I wanted the best accuracy out of, I’d go with the lighter pull weight of the SSA. For a more standard battle rifle I tend to prefer the ALG. Its personal preference really. They are both great triggers from a great company.

Bill talks about all of his triggers and the differences. The video is about 30 minutes.

Thank you for that link, I learned a lot and feel I can now make a decision on triggers from a semi-informed place. Anyone with any questions regarding Bill’s triggers should take the time to watch this video.

Why not KNS pins? I’m looking to put a S3G in my DDLES SBR lower.

about 10 posts down is the answer

That was a great video!

That video answered all my questions. I have 2 SSA triggers and was going to get a SD-E as well but now I think the SSA is exactly what I need.

The great thing with the SSA; it can be ‘slapped thru’ if you’re in a hellfire hurry for a close shot, or deliberately squeezed thru’ both stages for a longer one.
For an all 'round trigger, they’re tough to beat.

I bought a G2S recently just to see what it felt like. I also have a SSA. They really do feel damn near the same.

I could see the small D-clip retainer being a PITA if you were in the field and stuck with a tear down, but the install wasn’t too bad on the kitchen counter.

For $160 shipped I can’t complain.

I’ve been getting SSAs for not a lot more than that…for half price, it would be worth a thought. For $20-30, not so much.
An improved trigger is money well spent on an AR.

If anyone is considering an SSA, get a G2S instead. Otherwise get a SD-E.

I went SSA, as according to my discussion with a Geissele technician it’s the one closest to the Super SCAR trigger in feel and weight, although I think the Super SCAR is a little lighter overall.

I’m thinking about an ALG trigger for my DDLES 9MM AR SBR, as the stock trigger is pretty gritty, but then again I may just shoot it a bit more and see how it breaks in…

I’d suggest either the SDC or SD3G, depending if you want a two stage or single stage trigger.

The SD-C trigger is looking pretty tempting.
