Which companies manufacture their own AR's?

So which companies actually manufacture AR’s? In other words, companies that machine their own parts.

This is as opposed to companies like DPMS who buy AR parts, slap them together, and sell them.

Already searched and came up with nothing.

Daniel Defense… Colt…

That it?

Knights/Stoner, and Olympic Arms…maybe Armalite?

Not many at all actually manufacture thier goods for complete rifles.

They take spells of making their own or buying parts.I know some of the M15 stuff was a contract job upper.

CMT
LMT

I’d have to think pretty much all the manufacturers would probably have to source outside parts vendors for components at one point or the other.

This is a rather meaningless discussion. Whether or not one manufactures their own parts says very little.

Bingo.

I would rather have a BCM over an Olympic, and I bet you Oly makes more of their parts in-house.

Would you rather have someone that makes poo or buys quality?

Many AR manufacturers produce many of their own parts in house, but none of them 100% make every single part in house.

This is a pointless discussion.

What if it’s quality poo?

What are you hoping to gain from this knowledge???

FWIW, special Olympic Arms makes all their trash in house. Does that make them better???

Virtually none.
But it’s irrelevavt.
What is relevant is the QC that the parts must meet from their various manufacturers for acceptance by the assembler.

I agree with Failure its not about who made the parts but more of how much attention went into its design, materials, assembly, and testing long before it ever hits a single consumers hands.

But don’t get me wrong manufacturers that produce more in-house tend to have better end products.

Every single part?

Colt is about it I think.

S&W is making more and more components though and are probably catching up.

DD makes very little in house. Barrels, a few Lower Parts items that is it I think.

C4

No on LMT for sure. Same goes for Stag/CMT I think.

Agree. When a companies buy parts from other manufacturers, they are ASSuming that company did QC.

Colt for instance subs out just as many parts as they make. They also QC the parts made by others to higher standards than what they make in house!

We actually make quite a bit in house. Uppers, Lowers, Barrels, a variety of screws, pivot pins and takedown pins, firing pins, rail systems and accessories just to name a few. Obviously we don’t make every single component. With over 130 employees and 50 pieces of CNC Equipment, we have the ability to produce 100% of our parts. We also just purchased a 92,00 Sq/Ft facility in SC which will house our Anodizing, Phosphate, Heat Treat, and Chrome equipment.

Cool man and thanks for the info. The rails and accessories was kind of a “given” and is why I didn’t mention them (sorry).

I’ve always compared the whole “in house” manufacturer thing to this:

You want some high-quality wood floors in your new house. Two people are offering the job. One makes his own flooring and offers to install them himself, the other buys his flooring to install but they are of the same quality.

Both floors are very high quality. One guy makes his own, the other buys his. Assuming the workmanship is the same, it doesn’t matter who you go with.
