Which color molle gear is best???

I am trying to decide on a chest rig setup, but can’t seem to pick a color. I am torn between Khaki, OD, and Ranger Green. I mostly wear OD and ACU pants while training.

Is there an advantage of one color over another??? Like showing wear and longevity. What do most use???

I know it has to be a bit of personal preference, but I was advised to get Khaki and am not sure about it. It’s a good chunk of $$$ as I am getting Eagle stuff.

Thanks.

The darker the color, the more it will bake you in the sun…

But, I doubt your deploying to the desert in your eagle gear either…

I just picked up a Tan carrier… I think I would look ok wearing it in jeans too…

As far as solid colors go, browns tend to be my favorites, but I am mostly operational in brownish places. Tans and browns offer a good base for rattle-canning without requiring you to saturate the item in paint.

For patterns Multicam is great for a variety of environments.

Just my personal preference, nothing I am too emotional about.

CADPAT and ‘woodland’ MARPAT is best in my area, but unfortunately nobody makes gear in those patterns. That being said, I get what’s least likely to bake me under the sun, but if something comes along at a good price I’m willing to branch out. I’m sure my ranger green range bag with attached multicam admin pouch and coyote med pouch makes a fashion statement. :stuck_out_tongue:

My stuff is either Coyote Brown or Ranger Green. I like both colors, so I just mix and match it.

Tactical Tailor was doing marpat at one time

Coyote Brown, it fits in most environments and goes with most patterns.

But I’d seriously consider the surrounding terrain and base it off of that.

I live in North/Central Georgia. The environment where I live and travel outdoors is heavily wooded. I am leaning toward the Ranger Green.

Yeah, I remember that. Nowadays it looks like I’m going to have to buy a few sheets of the stuff and send to folks if I want something done in MARPAT, which is why I usually just default to a lighter color like coyote brown or khaki and other stuff it it’s on sale. I’m not rollin’ in dough yet for a lot of custom stuff.

Multicam is top notch. But if you’re going for looks, Ranger Green is nice. A brown is definitely the most universal solid color to get, though. Who are you trying to show off for, classmates or the “enemy?”

Brown is great. I just thought Khaki may show dirt and wear more. The cost of this gear is not trivial and in today’s economy I am looking for value. I don’t want to buy any junk gear and I don’t want to buy it twice b/c I got the wrong stuff. In the southeast I don’t think you can wrong with brown or ranger green. Not too much Khaki color around right now.

By the way I only show off to the “enemy.” Seriously, I am in to aestheitics. I don’t want to look like a bum and I wear alot of ACU stuff while shooting. That’s why I like wood on my shotguns. Perps saying…“damn that’s a classy shotgun.”

Gear is supposed to look dirty. That means you use it.

hammonje - Like most have said, it’s pretty much a personal issue with which color you like the best. After that just buy from a good manufacturer so that you don’t buy something that falls apart after a range session or two. If you do a search on here I’m sure you could find a few companies that most of the SME would recommend. Most of my gear is either Eagle, HSGI, or Tactical Tailor.

For the colors, if you’re wearing mostly OD and ACU then I’d recommend either OD or coyote brown/tan. It also depends on the location you are in. Since I normally wear khaki, multicam, or 3 color desert, most of my gear is coyote brown. I also chose that color since it works well here in eastern PA and back home in TX. My current chest rig (Eagle) is OD and I’m looking at getting another (from either Eagle or EssTac) in multicam since I tend to wear that more often.

And as msap says, don’t worry about it getting dirty. As long as you buy quality gear it should hold up (if not, then most of them have pretty good warranties). Good luck in your search and I hope this helps.

I dunno, I thought cleaning your gear showed better attention to maintenance.

Thanks everyone.

I went with an Eagle SKD cest rig (molle only) and Eagle pouches all in Ranger Green. I will mix and match the pouches either Khaki or Coyote brown. I was going to get the Eagle Rhodesian rig, but decided it was too bulky and I want something stripped down.

I want to be able to get prone and eat some dirt .
