Which barrel? Colt 16" 6920 or a Sabre 16" middy? New question added...

Need a barrel for an M4 build (although a 16" middy is not an M4, but you get the point…)

Choice #1: $350.00
Take off from a Colt 6920. 16" all Colt… I believe these are NOT 14.5" barrels but 16" so I will be able to remove the A2 cage and install a Vortex… Correct?

Choice #2: $315.00
Sabre Defense 16" Middy with “F” FSB and A2 cage

Any recommendations…

Colt is a Colt, but the middy gas system is nice too and Sabre is no slouch…

I’d go with the Sabre middy. Mid-length is King w/16" barrels.

I agree 16" midlength barrel would be my choice.

Middy.

C4

Saber mid.

It looks like the “mids” have it!

I suspected as much, but wanted to give the Colt crowd a chance…

Of course now I have to get a new rail as my Troy carbine rail won’t cut it, nor will my PRI gas block/sight as it is trapped on the 14.5" by the perm Vortex. Uughghhh…

Allow me to ask for ONE MORE opinion…

Which would you do for your “go to” carbine?

Noveske 16.1" Recon 5.56mm Barrel Group w/bolt ~ $490 msrp

or

Sabre Defense 16" Middy with “F” FSB and A2 cage /no bolt ~ $315

Decisions… decisions…

Noveske.

It’s what I am going to use for a GP build shortly.

The Sabre may be decent, but Noveske is the heat. Though they are expensive, I rarely (never) hear people complaining that they are anything less than worth exactly what one pays for them.

In the land of diminishing returns, the Noveske hold up it’s end.

Another option is to contact Grant (G&R Tactical) and inquire about having a F marked FSB installed on Noveske barrel.

I had 10.5" Noveske done this way and now I’m waiting for 14.5" and 16" barrels .

Thanks everyone… decided on the Sabre 16" middy with A2 FSB upper. Pics of the build when it is all done next week or so…

This forum is an OASIS in the desert of know-it-alls…

I wish manufacturers would extend the length of the mid length barrel by about 3/8" past the front sight base so a bayonet mounts properly on them.

So what’s the parts rundown???
