I need to mount a TR24G to a LMT MRP. Not sure which AD Recon to get. The Recon @ 1.425" centerline height or the Recon H @ 1.94" centerline height. I am not concerned with co-witness. Just comfort and consistency! What are your experienced thoughts and opinions? Thanks
What rear buis are you running in conjunct with the tr24g…if its anything like a troy or kac than I would go with the normal Recon x.
It all depends on what your specific “Mission” is with your rifle…
If you mostly plan to shoot at prairie dogs out at 100+ yards or precision accuracy is your priority, then the lower height mount will suit you better.
If you value more of a “Heads up” field of view which is more conducive to CQB and medium range, multiple rapid engagements, then I feel the higher mount will suit you better.
I run the 1.93" height LaRue Tactical LT-135 mount with my TR24G, and I am completely satisfied with the set-up. I also run my Surefire X300 weaponlight in the 12 o’clock position and the higher mount places the light very low and un-obstructing to my sight picture. I think I would actually prefer something in the 1.75-1.80" height as the 1.93" height is pushing the envelope ever-so-slightly with a variable power scope. But it has not been an issue thus far (Over 1 full year with the combo).
The higher mount really shines on 1x at CQB distances/drills.
Why the Recon-X?
Personally once a mount clears the particular buis I am using, I do not require any extra clearance since I am using my recon’s and scout for precision glass applications. I like the sight picture a lower mount provides better than one that a higher mount has to keep simply and short.
