Which 9mm 1911 runs the best?

I’m looking for a high quality 9mm 1911. I have no experience with them so I’m looking for suggestions from those who have.

I have one - It’s a Springfield Custom Shop Operator with a bull barrel. I’ve had it almost 2 years now. It’s a fantastic gun. With the full dustcover, it’s ALMOST (but not quite) like shooting a 22. Most accurate 9mm I’ve ever shot before.

Its not cheap, though. Starting price is $2600 for a 45 version with a bushing barrel. I made some changes to the order. Waited 11 months for it.

(it does have front strap checkering, but I just like these grips)

Wilson Combat.

C4

I have not shot many 9mm 1911s, but of the ones I have shot, the best shooting was a Wilson. Vickers had one at one of his classes and was kind enough to let us shoot it after class. If I had the $$ it would be mine. Oh, yes…it would be mine…

Any out there a little more affordable? I like the idea of having a custom 9mm 1911 but for my purposes I don’t need a $2000+ pistol.

I have a 9mm Les Baer P2. Not as pricey as the Wilson (close, though) Smooth shooter, no problems with it.

STI Trojan

I have considered the STI’s. Anyone have experience with the Para 9mm 1911’s? They look interesting as well.

I have a full size Stainless Steel Kimber and a Dan Wesson Guardian 1911 (Bob-Tail).

The Kimber will run reliably only with Wilson ETM magazines and it is fairly accurate. It’ll ‘hiccup’ occasionally with any other magazines than the Wilson’s. The Kimber has about 2000 to 3000 rounds through it.

The Dan Wesson Guardian is by far one of my favorites and a recent addition. Very accurate and reliable. It has about 600 rounds down range.

My EMP has run like a champ. Ran it in a pistol class with some no name ammo out of GA. No hiccups.

I sell lots of them and have them in stock.
It would be easy to set one up but there arte some things you should know.
To get one to run well you need to use an AFTEK extractor and Wilson mags.
The extractor needs to be installed correctly if you would like you can e-mail me or call.

I have a Wilson Combat CQB in 9mm that’s been flawless for me through 1000 rounds or so. Although it’s a pricey gun, it’s proven itself in terms of accuracy and reliability thus far.

My two Springfield 9mm 1911 Target models have run very well for about 1000 rds. each with SA’s front “V” ramped mags. They are both very accurate, and only needed some minor trigger work (3 1/2# triggers now) to make them just about perfect. WB

What kind of ammo have you run through your springers? I’ve looked at this with interest before, strictly as a cost-effective range/training/target pistol.

I had an STI Ranger in 9mm. It was a smooth shooter, but I had constant FTF. I wasn’t patient enough to send it back to STI and have them work on it. The barrel throat was hanging over the feed ramp too much and needed to be worked down.

If I bought another, I’d get a Dan Wesson Guardian. These semi custom pistols are made with high quality parts. For the price, they are tough to beat. I have a DW Valor in .45 and have been very pleased.
