I am “building” two ARs in 6.8 SPC one for me and a lefty for my dad. Of coarse I already know which upper he is getting (Stag), but there are more choices for me and I was curious what opinions everyone has.
I already have a RRA Entry Tac. in 5.56 so these are going to be Tacticool deer rifles. Also, does anyone know where to get five round mags?
My lower is complete and my dads will be as soon as I buy the LPK and stock.
Going to see the deals at the gun show this weekend before buying his parts.
Lowers are both Double Star, mine is finished with CMT LPK and A2 stock.
if you get the Ko-Tonics, I’d be really interested in hearing how it compares to your dad’s Stag. The Kotonics look nice, then again the stag’s have a lifetime warranty rather than 1 year and would mimic the Stag 5.56 uppers I already have, so I’m somewhat torn myself…
hmm, the stag does not have the M4 feed ramps? I just assumed it did since I’m pretty sure my 5.56 uppers from them do. I’ll have to check on that. I’ve actually had good luck with service from Stag as far as prompt email replies, pleasant to talk to on the phone (you actually get a human too!) and the last upper I ordered from them they said might be a week since I’m in NY and they had to make up a NY compliant one, and I think they shipped it the next day!
Yes, my Stag 6.8 does not have the feedramps. It’s a great rifle, and I have had no feeding trouble with it on Remington and Hornady ammo at all. I give a definite nod to the Ko-tonics, but the Stag is a fine weapon too.
